Women's Wrestling Places No. 12 Overall at National Duals

Cedar Falls, Iowa, (Jan. 6, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College women's wrestling team finished competition in Cedar Falls, Iowa, with day two of the NWCA National Duals.  The Vikings finished at No. 12 overall in the tournament.

 

Vs. No. 7 Campbellsville (Ky.)

101 pounds: No. 19 Sophomore Sage Beltran (Honolulu, Hawaii) lost to No. 15 Riley Banyas in second period (4:13) pin.  Campbellsville leads, 5-0.

109 pounds:  No. 15 Senior Laura Lincoln (Searcy, Ark.) defeated Gabrielle Medeiros in a first period (2:47) pin.  Teams were tied, 5-5.

116 pounds: Junior Mystyque Anderson (Kansas City, Mo.) lost to No. 4 Icart Galumette in a 10-0 technical fall. Campbellsville leads, 9-5.

123 pounds: Missouri Valley left the weight class open.  Campbellsville leads, 14-5.

130 pounds: Madeline Santana defeated Addison Messerly in a first period (1:19) pin.  Campbellsville leads, 14-10.

136 pounds: Senior Willow Barnes (Romulus, Mich.) lost to No. 10 Gabriella Perez in a 10-0 technical fall.  Campbellsville leads, 18-10.

143 pounds: Missouri Valley left the weight class open.  Campbellsville leads, 23-10.

155 pounds: Sophomore Jericka Renner (Stockton, Calif.) lost to No. 4 Kendra Thompson in a 10-0 technical fall.  Campbellsville leads, 27-10.

170 pounds: Senior Elizabeth Hubbard (Azle, Texas) lost to No. 15 Sierra Chavez in an 8-0 decision.  Campbellsville leads, 30-10.

191 pounds Freshman Hollie Hedgpeth (Cameron, Mo.) lost to Lexiana Garcia in a first period (2:11) pin.

Campbellsville defeated Missouri Valley, 35-10.

 

Vs. No. 10 Oklahoma City

101 pounds: No. 19 Beltran lost to Sofia Abramson in an 11-0 technical fall.  Oklahoma City leads, 4-0.

109 pounds: No. 12 Junior Hailey Holland (San Bernardino, Calif.) lost to No. 10 Eliana Martinez in a 10-0 technical fall.  Oklahoma City leads, 8-0.

116 pounds: Anderson lost to No. 1 Avery Ashley in a 10-0 technical fall.  Oklahoma City leads, 12-0.

123 pounds: Missouri Valley left the weight class open.  Oklahoma City leads, 17-0.

130 pounds: Santana lost to No. 19 Destiny Campbell in a first period (3:00) pin.  Oklahoma City leads, 22-0.

136 pounds: Barnes defeated Morgan Mackey in a second period (3:37) pin.  Oklahoma City leads, 22-5.

143 pounds: No. 13 Freshman Serenity De La Garza (McAllen, Texas) defeated No. 18 Makayla Munoz in a 10-9 decision.  Oklahoma City leads, 23-8.

155 pounds: Senior Elizabeth Hubbard (Azle, Texas) lost to No. 7 Presley McCandish in a 10-0 technical fall.  Oklahoma City leads, 27-8.

170 pounds: Junior Elise Falcetti (St. Louis, Mo.) lost to Rayleigh Fisher in a first period (1:55) pin.  Oklahoma City leads, 32-8

191 pounds: Hedgpeth lost to No. 17 Ryann Rumsey in a 10-0 technical fall.

Oklahoma City defeated Missouri Valley, 36-8.

 

The team finished No. 12 overall at the National Duals, and moves to 1-4 in duals on the season.  Friday at the tournament, the Vikings topped No. 19 Baker, 35-14.

 

Up next, Missouri Valley will travel for a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual to Baldwin City, Kan., to compete against Baker, Wednesday at 7 p.m.
