Women's Lacrosse Falls at Home to No. 10 Benedictine

Marshall, Mo., (April 6, 2024)-  The Missouri Valley College men's and women's lacrosse teams hosted Benedictine (Kan.) in a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium.  The women's team fell to the No. 10 Ravens, while the men's team dropped its contest.

 

Leading the women's team were Freshman Midfielder Hailey Davis (Maryville, Tenn.) and Junior Midfielder Allexis Lark (Alma, Mo.) who both scored one goal, each on free position chances.  Freshman Defender Miranda Wilson (Idaho Falls, Idaho) led with three ground balls, and Junior Goalkeeper Melissa Sandoval (Weiser, Idaho) made 14 saves in goal.  The Vikings fell by a final score of 31-2.

 

The loss drops Missouri Valley to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the Heart.

 

Leading the men's team was Sophomore Attack Carson Wiley (Carstairs, Alberta), who scored a hat-trick of three goals, and added one assist.  Junior Goalkeeper Jake Lipscomb (Boiling Springs, S.C.) scored his first career goal and chipped in with one assist.  Junior Defender Aleix Costa (Barcelona, Spain) scored one goal. Lipscomb made 21 saves.  The Vikings fell by a final score of 23-5.

 

Missouri Valley falls to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the Heart.  Benedictine improves to 8-4 on the season and 3-0 in the conference.

 

Next for the lacrosse teams is a home Heart doubleheader against William Penn (Iowa), Wednesday beginning at 4 p.m., inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium, with the women's game.  Men's game follows at 7 p.m.
