STUNT Team Competes for First Time in Program's History

St. Louis, Mo., (March 2, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College STUNT team competed for the first time in program-history, Saturday at Maryville (Mo.) in St. Louis, Mo.  The Vikings earned a 6-0 victory over Southwest Baptist (Mo.), followed by a loss to Maryville (Mo.).

 

STUNT focuses on the technical and athletic aspects of cheer as a head-to-head competition with four quarters that feature different aspects and disciplines.  The quarters are split into partner stunts, pyramids and tosses, jumps and tumbling and team routine.  Teams receive points based on their performances in each quarter, with the final score determined after four quarters of competition.

 

In the first competition against Southwest Baptist, Missouri Valley earned a 6-0 victory.  The team earned one point in the first quarter, three points in quarter three, and sealed the victory with two points in the fourth quarter.  The Vikings followed with a loss to Maryville by a final score of 22-0.

 

Missouri Valley sits at 1-1 on the season.

 

The STUNT team competes two more times in St. Louis, Mo., Sunday.  The first competition against Michigan State is set for 2 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m., contest with Missouri Baptist.
