Cross Country Teams Compete at Gans Creek Classic

Columbia, Mo., (Sept. 29, 2023)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo., Friday morning against programs from NAIA and NCAA Division II.

 

Leading the men's team in the 8k race was Senior Khobi Kellerman (Auxvasse, Mo.) who finished in a time of 30:31 to place at No. 163.  He was followed by Sophomore Daytona Blaine (Shelbina, Mo.) at No. 167 in a time of 30:44, while Senior Lorenzo Celiento (Carinaro, Italy came in at No. 202 in a time of 34:33.  Junior Rodrigo Escalona-Rodriguez (El Paso, Texas) placed at No. 211 in a time of 39:46.  Junior Tyler Polley (Brookfield, Mo.) rounded out the team scorers with a time of 41:33 to place at No. 214.  Freshman Angel Lopez (Los Fresnos, Texas) finished at No. 215 in a time of 42:27.

 

Two members of the women's team competed, led by Freshman Jozelynn Bostick who placed at No. 87 in the 6k race with a time of 26:02.  Freshman Allexis Lark  (Alma, Mo.) placed at No. 148 in a time of 31:05.

 

The men's team placed No. 16 overall in the standings with 493 points.  Colby (Kan.) won the team championship with 63 points.  The Viking women's team did not post a score.

 

Nest for the Missouri Valley cross country teams is the Seminole Valley Stampede in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Oct. 21.
