Golf Teams Compete at William Woods Fall Invite

Fulton, Mo., (Sept. 20, 2023)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's golf teams competed at the William Woods (Mo.) Fall Invite at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Mo.  Both teams had an individual finish in the top 20 of the standings.

 

The men's team was led by Junior Jesus Perez (Sevilla, Spain) who finished at No. 11 with a two-round score of +5 (149).  Perez shot a -1 (71) in the second round.  He was followed by Freshman Thomas Skevington (Farnham, England) who placed at No. 22 with a final score of +11 (155).  Sophomore Joaquin Calderon (Quito, Ecuador) came in at No. 31 with a +14 (158) and Junior Isaac Taleb (Pereira, Colombia) rounded out the team scorers with a +19 (163) to place at No. 44.  Junior Kyle Steel (Aberdeen, Scotland) shot a +24 (168) to place at No. 50.

 

The women's team was led by Freshman Kendra Warden (Paris, Canada) who finished with a two-round score of +22 (166) to place at No. 18.  Sophomore Madison Mills (Willard, Mo.) came in at No. 32 with a +40 (184), and Sophomore Jalynn Allen (Lebanon, Mo.) placed at No. 40 with a score of +49 (193).  Senior Isabelle Pearson (North Little Rock, Ark.) had a single-round score of +30 (102).

 

The men's team placed seventh in the standings with a final score +48 (624).  Columbia (Mo.) won the tournament with a -22 (554).  The women's team did not post a total score.  Columbia won the women's tournament with a +31 (607).

 

Up next, the Viking golf teams will host the Big Buddy Shootout at Indian Foothills Golf Course in Marshall, Mo., Monday and Tuesday.
