Men's Rodeo Receive Position Draws for 2024 CNFR

Marshall, Mo., (June 3, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College men's rodeo team is less than one week away from the 2024 College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo., with position draws for the first three go-rounds released over the weekend.  All performance times listed are set to local time in Casper, Wyo.

 

Three Viking cowboys will compete in bareback riding.  The first two competitors in the event will be Senior Ty Pope (Waverly, Kan.) and Senior Colt Eck (Redfield, Kan.), with their first go-rounds Sunday at 1 p.m.  Sophomore Kooper Heimburg (San Tan Valley, Ariz.) will compete in his first go-round in the Sunday 4 p.m., performance.  All three will follow with second go-rounds during Monday's slack beginning at 7 a.m.  Heimburg will be the first to compete in the third go-round, Wednesday, while Eck goes Thursday and Pope on Friday.  Third go-round performances will begin at 7 p.m., each evening.

 

In saddle bronc riding, Senior Samuel Freeman (Cadiz, Ky.) will open his first go-round Sunday at 1 p.m.  Pope will also compete in saddle bronc riding, and perform in the first go-round Sunday at 4 p.m.  Pope follows with a second go-round in Monday's slack beginning at 7 a.m., and Freeman performs in the second go-round in Tuesday's slack beginning at 7 a.m.  The pair then perform in Thursday's third go-round performance, beginning at 7 p.m.

 

Also competing at the CNFR are the team roping pair of Senior Nathan Pelke (Mondovi, Wis.) and Senior Easton Kerby (Lancaster, Iowa).  The team's first go-round performance takes place during Monday's slack, beginning at 7 a.m., with the second go-round during Tuesday's 7 a.m., slack.  The third go-round of the pair will be Thursday's session beginning at 7 p.m.

 

Following the third go-rounds, those that qualify for the short go-round will compete for a possible National championship in Saturday's finals, beginning at 7 p.m.

 

The men's team dominated the Ozark Region standings during the 2023-24 regular season, finishing with a total of 7,765 points to win an eighth-straight Ozark Region championship.  Second place was West Alabama with 4,110 points on the season. Going into the CNFR, the Vikings are third in the National standings, behind Treasure Valley (Ore.) with 10,269.50 points and Montana State with 8,252.50 points.

 

Individually, Pope finished first in the National all-around standings, with 2,940 points, and first in saddle bronc riding, with 1,520 points. 

 

The 2024 College National Finals Rodeo runs June 9 through June 15 at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper, Wyo.
