ESports Team Opens Heart Play With Sweeps of Clarke and Gracecland

Marshall, Mo., (Feb. 14, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College Rocket League team competed for the first time in program-history as part of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Thursday evening, inside the MVC eSports Arena.  The Vikings played two best-of-five series competitions, sweeping both Graceland (Iowa) and Clarke (Iowa).

Missouri Valley opened the evening with a matchup against Clarke, and won game one of the series by a 6-0 score.  Graduate Anthony Inzuna (Marshall, Mo.) led in game one with one goal and three assists.  Game two was a close contest between the teams, with MVC finishing out a 2-1 win.  The Vikings completed the sweep with a 10-3 victory in game three, led by Freshman Benjamin Searle (Kent, England) who totaled four goals and three assists.  

The second contest of the evening came against Graceland, and started with a 3-0 win in game one.  Game two was a 6-1 victory for the team, as Sophomore Dominic Hoskin (Witham, England) scored two goals and added four assists.  Missouri Valley swept the series with a 5-0 win in game three.

Hoskins led with a total of 10 goals and 12 assists in the two series.  Searle added 12 goals and nine assists, while Inzuna had 10 goals and seven assists.

The pair of wins move the team to 2-0 on the season, and on top of the Heart Rocket League standings.

Up next, the Viking Rocket League team will take place Thursday at 6 p.m., inside the MVC eSports Arena.
