Four Vikings Named to Heart All-Conference Volleyball Team

Marshall, Mo., (Nov. 14, 2023)- The Missouri Valley College women's volleyball team has put four of its student-athletes on the 2023 Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Conference Team for their play during the season.

 

Leading the selections is Junior Outside Hitter Juliana Oliviera (Riberia Preto, Brazil), who was named to the all-conference second team.  In her first season with the program, Oliviera led the team in kills (314), kills per game (3.08), total points (364) and ranked third overall in the Heart in points per game (3.8).  She also finished second on the team in service aces (31), totaled 269 digs and posted 12 double-doubles. 

 

Selected to the third team all-conference were Senior Outside Hitter Ksenija Simun (Kotor, Montenegro) and Junior Setter Lynsey Day (Kingman, Ariz.).  Simun earned her first all-conference honor after leading the team in games played (103) and service aces (34).  She was second on the team in kills (312), kills per game (3.03), and total points (362).  Simun finished with 298 digs and totaled nine double-doubles on the season.  Day, a third team all-conference selection in 2022, led the team and was third in the conference in assists (979) and finished with 283 digs on the season.  She totaled 11 double-doubles on the season. 

 

Named an honorable mention to the all-conference team was Junior Right Side Maria Bertholdo (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).  Bertholdo ended the season with 224 kills, 28 aces, 147 digs and 267 total points.

 

Four selections to the all-conference team is the most for the program since 2018.  The women's volleyball team finished with a 15-17 overall record, the most wins in a single-season since 2017, and earned a berth into the Heart Postseason Tournament for the first time since 2018.
