Women's Soccer Hosts National Tournament Game Saturday

Marshall, Mo., (Nov. 13, 2023)- The Missouri Valley College women's soccer team will host a match in the 2023 NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament this Saturday against Hastings (Neb.).

 

The No. 18 Viking women's soccer team earned an automatic berth into the National tournament, and a bye into the second round, after capturing the 2023 Heart of America Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament, Presented by WinWon Technologies championship with a 3-2 win over No. 4 Central Methodist (Mo.).  This was the first postseason tournament championship in program-history

 

Missouri Valley will host a National tournament game for the first time in program-history, and will play Hastings inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium Saturday.  This is a rematch from a non-conference game earlier this season.  The Broncos won 3-0 over Missouri Valley back on Aug. 26.  The Vikings have earned a berth into the National tournament for the fourth-straight season, and fifth time overall.

 

Missouri Valley enters the game with a 15-4-2 overall record, and Hastings sits at 16-2-2 and earned an automatic berth into the National tournament after capturing the GPAC regular season title.  

 

The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the National site, which is located at Foley Sports Tourism Championship Stadium in Foley, Ala.  The National site games will begin Nov. 27, with the National championship game Dec. 4.  Missouri Valley has advanced to the National site once in program-history, finishing as National runner-up in 1991.
