Women's Soccer Continues Climb Up Coaches' Poll Rankings

Marshall, Mo., (Nov. 8, 2023)- The Missouri Valley College women's soccer team continued its climb up the rankings with the latest edition of the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released Wednesday.

 

The Vikings moved up one spot to the No. 18 position this week.  The team won both games played during the latest ratings period.  The first win came against then-No. 16 Oklahoma Wesleyan, 3-1, in the final game of the regular season, followed by a 2-0 victory over Clarke (Iowa) in the quarterfinal round of the 2023 Heart of America Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament, Presented by WinWon Technologies.

 

Two other teams from the Heart of America Athletic Conference are ranked in this week's coaches' poll.  Central Methodist (Mo.) stayed No. 4, and Benedictine (Kan.) remained at No. 24.  Missouri Valley has suffered defeats to No. 1 William Carey (Miss.), No. 4 CMU, No. 5 Columbia (Mo.) and No. 22 Hastings (Neb.), while playing No. 3 Cumberlands (Ky.) to a tie.  The Vikings have wins over No. 19 Oklahoma Wesleyan and No. 24 Benedictine.

 

Missouri Valley has been ranked in 38 of the previous 39 coaches' polls, dating back to the 2020 season.

 

The team sits at 13-4-2 on the season, and continues play in the Heart Postseason Tournament tonight (Wednesday).  The No. 2 seed Vikings host No. 3 seed MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) at 7 p.m., inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium.  The Vikings defeated the Pioneers at home, 2-1, back on Oct. 4.  Tickets can be purchased at valleywillroll.com, and through the MVC Athletics mobile app.
