Women's Soccer Makes Climb Up Latest Coaches' Poll

Marshall, Mo., (Nov. 1, 2023)- The Missouri Valley College women's soccer team improved on its ranking in the latest edition of the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released Wednesday.

The Vikings moved up one spot to the No. 19 spot this week.  The team won both games played during the latest ratings period, which included a 2-0 win over Graceland (Iowa) and a 2-1 win at No. 24 Benedictine (Kan.).  Tuesday's 3-1 win over No. 16 Oklahoma Wesleyan did not factor into this edition of the coaches' poll.

Two other teams from the Heart of America Athletic Conference are ranked in this week's coaches' poll.  Central Methodist (Mo.) stayed No. 4, and Benedictine (Kan.) remained at No. 24.  Missouri Valley has suffered defeats to No. 1 William Carey (Miss.), No. 4 CMU, No. 5 Columbia (Mo.) and No. 22 Hastings (Neb.), while playing No. 3 Cumberlands (Ky.) to a tie.  The Vikings have wins over No. 16 Oklahoma Wesleyan and No. 24 Benedictine.

Missouri Valley has been ranked in 37 of the previous 38 coaches' polls, dating back to the 2020 season.

The team sits at 12-4-2 on the season, and finished second in the final Heart standings with a 10-1 conference record.  Missouri Valley will be the No. 2 seed in the 2023 Heart Women's Soccer Championship, presented by WinWon Technologies, and will host No. 7 seed Clarke (Iowa) in a quarterfinal game, Saturday at 5 p.m., inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium.  The Vikings defeated the Pride at home, 3-0, back on Oct. 21.  Tickets can be purchased at valleywillroll.com, and through the MVC Athletics mobile app.
