Shooting Sports Finishes Fall Season at William Penn 300

Pella, Iowa., (Oct. 17, 2023)- The Missouri Valley College shooting sports team recently competed at the William Penn (Iowa) 300 at the Marion County Sportsmen's Club in Knoxville, Iowa, and at Black Oak Clays in Pella, Iowa.  The team finished third overall in the standings.

 

In trap, Missouri Valley placed third with a 462/500.  Sophomore Lane Zabokrsky (Fairbury, Neb.) and Freshman Dakota Zaugg (Santa Maria, Calif.) each finished with a 94/100, followed by Junior Charlie Maddox (Forest, Va.) with a 92/100.  Sophomore Jarret Fuerhing (Sweet Springs, Mo.), Junior Kilee Bradley-Robinson (Downing, Mo.), Sophomore Hunter Sims (Sweet Springs, Mo.) and Sophomore Josie Stuver (Carrollton, Mo.) all had shoots of 91/100.

 

In skeet, the team placed third with a 464/500.  Sims led with a 96/100, followed by Maddox and Zabokrsky with a 94/100.  Fuerhing totaled a 92/100 and Freshman Paige Burns (Trail, Minn.) came in with a 88/100.

 

The Vikings placed fourth in sporting clays with a 380/500.  Zaugg led with an 80/100, followed by Junior Blayne Kolb (Maysville, Mo.) and Maddox each at 76/100, while Zabokrsky had a 75/100.  Bradley-Robinson finished with a 73/100.

 

Missouri Valley placed third with a total of 1,306 in the High Overall standings.  William Penn won the event with a 1,427, followed by Iowa Western in second with a 1,390.

 

"The student-athletes have been putting in the work this fall, and many have set new personal bests in events," said Head Coach Reba Kingsley.  "The team attended a couple of competitions they had not been to in the past, which was an excellent experience to see different ranges and levels of competition.  I'm proud of this group and look to keep building off what we learned this fall to keep momentum going as we look towards the spring."


This was the final event of the fall competition season for the shooting sports team, and will resume the 2023-24 schedule in the spring.
