No. 14 Men's Wrestling Drops Road Dual At No. 1 Grand View

Des Moines, Iowa, (Jan. 26, 2024)- The No. 14 Missouri Valley College men's wrestling team traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, Friday evening for a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual against No. 1 Grand View. Missouri Valley fell, 39-6.

 

125 pounds: Missouri Valley left the weight class open. Grand View leads, 6-0.

133 pounds: No. 15 Freshman Haden Hernandez (Huntington Beach, Calif.) lost to No. 1 Carson Taylor in a 10-3 decision. Grand View leads, 9-0.

141 pounds: No. 25 Freshman Kristofer Arrey (Riverside, Calif.) lost to Tony Mendoza in a 19-5 major decision. Grand View leads, 13-0.

149 pounds: Sophomore Cole Patten (Lebanon, Mo.) lost to Cole Ferguson in a first period pin. Grand View leads, 19-0.

157 pounds: Sophomore Trenton Crowley (Justin, Texas) lost to Sam Kallem in a first period pin. Grand View leads, 25-0.

165 pounds: Junior Jesus Gutierrez (Victorville, Calif.) lost to Justin McCunn in a 18-2 technical fall. Grand View leads, 30-0.

174 pounds: No. 19 Junior Brenden Parks (Elburn, Ill.) defeated No. 4 Alex Reynolds in a second period (4:05) pin. Grand View leads, 30-6. 

184 pounds: No. 23 Senior Drake Tipton (Grain Valley, Mo.) lost to Caleb Swalla in a 2-1 decision. Grand View leads, 33-6.

197 pounds: No. 9 Sophomore Elijah Hynes (Broken Arrow, Okla.) lost to No. 3 Owen Braungardt in a 4-0 decision. Grand View leads, 36-6.

285 pounds: Freshman Jayden Joseph (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) lost to Trayvonne Jackson in a 10-4 decision.

Grand View defeated Missouri Valley, 39-6.

 

The loss drops Missouri Valley to 10-2 on the season, while Grand View improves to 10-1.

 

Up next, the Viking men's wrestling will host Central Methodist (Mo.) for a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual, on Feb. 1st, inside the Burns Athletic Complex.
