Track and Field Compete at ZK Invite

Baldwin City, Kan., (April 27, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's track and field teams closed the outdoor regular season with the ZK Invite, hosted by Baker (Kan.) in Baldwin City, Kan.  The women's team was led by three runner-up placers, while the men's team produced eight finishes in the top ten.

 

Women's Results:

The women's team was led by Freshman Mya McKenzie (St. Louis, Mo.), who placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.74.  She also placed sixth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.13 and placed No. 16 in the long jump with a distance of 4.74 meters.  Also finishing as runner-up in an event was Freshman Jozelynn Bostick (Centralia, Mo.) who placed second in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:13.96.  She also placed eighth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:39.71, while Junior Samantha Bitz (Marion, Ill.) placed second in the pole vault with a height of 2.72 meters.  Bitz added an eighth place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.10 and placed No. 14 in the long jump with a distance of 4.74 meters.  The team produced a total of 17 finishes in the top ten.

 

Freshman Alexis Neff- placed third in the pole vault with a height of 2.42 meters.

 

Junior Paula Romero Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain)- placed fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 43.43 meters.  She also placed ninth in the shot put with a distance of 11.20 meters and No. 15 in the discus with a distance of 31.42 meters.

 

Freshman Emily Dolberry (Arlington, Texas)- placed sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.45 meters.

 

Sophomore Federica Gammarota (Sofoggia, Italy)- placed seventh in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 16.71.

 

Freshman Isabella Kulenkamp (Warrensburg, Mo.)-  placed eighth in the hammer throw with a distance of 39.06 meters.  She also placed No. 12 in the discus with a distance of 34.11 meters.

 

Freshman Choize Hysten (Topeka, Kan.)- placed ninth in the 100 meter dash in a time of 13.71.  She also placed ninth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.61 and placed tenth in the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:06.85.

 

Junior Macie Ables (Olathe, Kan.)- placed ninth in the hammer throw with a distance of 38.78 meters.

 

Freshman Sydnei Cummings- placed No. 11 in the javelin throw with a distance of 25.14 meters.

 

Junior Zaya Dove (Kansas City, Mo.)- placed No. 11 in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.20.

 

Junior Kylie Linson (Troy, Mo.)- placed No. 13 in the shot put with a distance of 10.62 meters.

 

 

Men's Results:

The men's team was led by a pair of third place finishers in their respective events.  Senior Khobi Kellerman (Auxvasse, Mo.) placed third in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:15.71 and Freshman Terrill Davis placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 11.68 meters.  In all, the men's team produced a total of eight finishes in the top ten.

 

Sophomore Chase Buford (Republic, Mo.)- placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.90 meters.  He also placed fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.16 and tenth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.27.

 

Freshman Matthew Fisher (Houston, Texas)- placed fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.01.  He also placed No. 14 in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.98. 200 meter dash.

 

Freshman Joseph Lepak- placed sixth in the javelin throw with a distance of 48.48 meters.

 

Freshman Samuel Brown (Cedar Hill, Texas)- placed eighth in the 400 meter dash in a time of 53.90.  

 

Freshman Jorge Munoz (Spain)- placed No. 11 in the 400 meter dash in a time of 54.82.  He also placed No. 13 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.40.

 

Senior Rodrigo Escalona-Rodriguez (El Paso, Texas)- placed No. 13 in the 400 meter dash in a time of 57.40.  He also placed No. 15 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.66.

 

Next up for the track and field teams is the Heart of America Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, May 3-4, hosted by Baker.
