Men's Golf Competes at Heart Championship, Produces One All-Conference Performer

Moravia, Iowa, (April 30, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College men's golf teams competed at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake in Moravia, Iowa.  The team finished sixth overall with two individuals placing in the top 25 and one all-conference selection.

 

Leading the team was Junior Cade Basson (George, South Africa) who finished at No. 13 overall with a three-round score of +1 (217).  Basson finished eight strokes back of first place and shot a -2 (70) to open play in the tournament, which was the third-lowest score of the first round.  Following was Sophomore Dominic Hoskin (Witham, England) at No. 23 with a final score of +7 (223), while Sophomore Nelius De Jager (Upington, South Africa) added a +11 (227) to place at No. 33. 

 

Also for the team, Sophomore Jules Garrett (Lyon, France) played the first two rounds at +8 (152), Freshman Valentin Bosdari (Mendoza, Argentina) placed the second round at +5 (77), Sophomore Joaquin Calderon (Quito, Ecuador) placed the third round at +2 (74) and Freshman Sebastian Liffers (Heitersheim, Germany) played the third round at +4 (76).

 

De Jager added a selection to the Heart Men's Golf All-Conference Team for his play during the season and at the Heart Championship.  This is the first all-conference honor for De Jager in his career

 

As a team, the Vikings finished sixth overall with a final score of +27 (891).  MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) won the tournament by one stroke over Park (Mo.), totaling a -18 (846).
