Women's Wrestling Produces Five All-Americans, Four Semifinalists at National Championship

Park City, Kan., (March 14, 2025)-The Missouri Valley College women's wrestling opened competition at the 2025 NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championship at Park City Arena in Park City, Kan., Friday.  The Vikings produced five All-Americans and four National semifinalists.  The team is fifth in the standings.

 

No. 4 Freshman Jasmina Immaeva (Uzbekistan)-124 pounds:

First Round: Defeated Jill High of York (Neb.) in a 15-4 technical fall.

Second Round: Defeated Catharine Campbell of Grand View (Iowa) in a 9-2 decision.

Quarterfinal: Defeated No. 5 Rose Kaplan of Indiana Tech in a 5-3 decision.

Immaeva is an All-American and will wrestle in the semifinals, Saturday.

 

No. 3 Freshman Xochitl Mota-Pettis (Humble, Texas)-131 pounds:

First Round: Defeated Keira Nartatez of Midland (Neb.) in a 10-0 technical fall.

Second Round: Defeated Hannah Seitzinger of Indiana Tech in a 10-0 technical fall.

Quarterfinal: Defeated No. 6 Olivia Mottley of Life (Ga.) in a 12-1 technical fall.

Mota-Pettis is an All-American and will wrestling in the semifinals, Saturday.

 

Freshman Sevreign Aumua (Grain Valley, Mo.)-145 pounds:

First Round: Defeated No. 4 Aevri Ciha of Doane (Neb.) in a 12-0 technical fall.

Second Round: Defeated Naida Abdijanovic of William Penn (Iowa) in a 10-0 technical fall.

Quarterfinal: Defeated No. 5 Krista Warren of Grand View (Iowa) in an 11-0 technical fall.

Aumua is an All-American and will wrestle in the semifinals, Saturday.

 

No. 3 Senior Kelani Corbett (Wahiawa, Hawaii)-180 pounds:

First Round: Received a bye.

Second Round: Defeated Lillian Gradillas-Flores of Southern Oregon in an 11-0 technical fall.

Quarterfinal: Defeated No. 6 Reka Busa of Life (Ga.) in an 11-0 technical fall.

Corbett is a five-time All-American and will wrestle in the semifinals, Saturday.

 

Sophomore Serenity De La Garza (McAllen Texas)-138 pounds:

First Round: Defeated Livia Swift of Ottawa (Kan.) in a 10-0 technical fall.

Second Round: Lost to No. 2 Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp of Providence (Mont.) in a first period (1:56) pin.

Consolation Second Round: Received a bye.

Consolation Third Round: Defeated Lilly Gough of Central Methodist in a second period (3:37) pin.

Consolation Fourth Round: Defeated No. 4 Kendall Bostelman of William Penn (Iowa) in a first period (2:08) pin.

De La Garza is a two-time All-American and will wrestle in the consolation fifth round, Saturday.

 

No. 7 Senior Ashley Whetzal (Virginia Beach, Va.)-131 pounds:

First Round: Received a bye.

Second Round: Defeated Olivia Messerly of Campbellsville (Ky.) in a second period (4:36) pin.

Quarterfinal: Lost to No. 2 Mercy Adekuoroye of Wayland Baptist (Texas) in a 10-0 technical fall.

Consolation Fourth Round: Lost to Larissa Kaz of Hastings (Neb.) in a 13-2 technical fall.

 

Senior Aniseta Acosta (Sacramento, Calif.)-145 pounds:

First Round: Lost to No. 6 Anastasia Hardin of Missouri Baptist in a second period (3:46) pin.

Consolation First Round: Received a bye.

Consolation Second Round: Defeated Lisa Hoeflich of Hastings (Neb.) in an 11-0 technical fall.

Consolation Third Round: Lost to Alivia Ming of Cumberlands (Ky.) in a first period (2:16) pin.

 

Senior Hailey Holland (San Bernardino, Calif.)-110 pounds:

First Round: Defeated Allison Hancher of Indiana Tech in a 10-0 technical fall.

Second Round: Lost to No. 8 Alexsys Jacquez of St. Mary (Kan.) in a 13-2 technical fall.

Consolation Second Round: Defeated teammate Sarah Pineda in a first period (2:50) pin.

Consolation Third Round: Lost to Kayla Shota of Providence (Mont.) in a 10-0 technical fall.

 

Freshman Sarah Pineda (Perris, Calif.)-110 pounds:

First Round: Lost to No. 7 Tristan Nitta of Grand View (Iowa) in a first period (2:00) pin.

Consolation First Round: Received a bye.

 Consolation Second Round: Lost to teammate Hailey Holland in a first period (2:50) pin.

 

Freshman Isla Baeza (Orem, Utah)-124 pounds:

First Round: Received a bye.

Second Round: Lost to No. 2 Katie Gomez of Cumberlands (Ky.) in a 10-0 technical fall.

Consolation Second Round: Lost to Presley Anderson of Cumberlands (Ky.) in a 12-10 decision.

 

Missouri Valley is fifth in the team standings with 70 points.  Life (Ga.) is first overall with 118.5 points, Grand View (Iowa) is second with 85 points, William Penn (Iowa) is third with 80 points and Cumberlands (Ky.) is fourth with 72.5 points.

 

The 2025 NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championship continues with two more sessions Saturday inside Park City Arena in Park City, Kan.  Wrestling begins at 10 a.m.

 

Session III-Saturday at 10 a.m.

Championship Semifinals, Consolation Fifth Round, Consolation Semifinals, Placement Matches (3rd, 5th, 7th place).

 

Session IV-Saturday at 7 p.m.

National Championship Round in all ten weight classes.
