No. 10 Women's Wrestling Produces Two Champions at York Open

York, Neb., (Jan. 18, 2024)- The No. 10 Missouri Valley College women's wrestling team competed at the York (Neb.) Open, Saturday. Leading the team were No. 6 Sevreign Aumua and No. 2 Kelani Corbett taking first place in their respective weight classes in the open division, and five other Vikings advanced to the placing rounds. 

Open Division:

No. 6 Freshman Sevreign Aumua (Grain Valley, Mo.)-145lbs:

First Round: Defeated Brooke-Lynn Rush of Grand View (Iowa) in a 13-12 decision.

Quarterfinal: Defeated Erica Schroeder of Colorado Mesa in a 10-0 technical fall.

Semifinal: Defeated Breaunnah Robles of Colorado Mesa in a 13-2 technical fall.

First Place Match: Defeated Alexis Burton of Fort Hays (Kan.) in an 11-0 technical fall.

Aumua won at 145lbs.

No. 2 Senior Kelani Corbett (Wahiawa, Hawaii)-180lbs:

Quarterfinal: Defeated Isabella Renfro of Fort Hays (Kan.) in a 12-1 technical fall.

Semifinal: Defeated Maggie Smith of Colorado Mesa in an 11-0 technical fall.

First Place Match: Defeated Alison Evans of Colorado Mesa in a 10-0 technical fall.

Corbett won at 180lbs.
