
No. 9 Women's Wrestling Drops Top Ten Dual at No. 6 William Penn
Oskaloosa, Iowa, (Dec. 5, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's wrestling teams traveled to Oskaloosa, Iowa, for a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual doubleheader, Thursday evening. The No. 15 men's team won seven of ten matchups to knock off the Statesmen, but the No. 9 women's team fell to No. 6 William Penn.
Women's Results:
103 pounds: No. 7 Junior Sage Beltran (Honolulu, Hawaii) lost to No. 12 Lillian Zapata in a 14-4 technical fall. William Penn leads, 4-1.
110 pounds: No. 12 Senior Hailey Holland (San Bernardino, Calif.) defeated Teya Garner in a first period (1:38) pin. Missouri Valley leads, 6-4.
117 pounds: Freshman Jaylenn Hudlemeyer (Excelsior Springs, Mo.) lost to No. 3 Zao Estrada in a 10-0 technical fall. William Penn leads, 8-6.
124 pounds: Freshman Ashtyn Sagely (Broken Arrow, Okla.) lost to No. 3 Joanna Vanderwood in a 10-0 technical fall. William Penn leads, 12-6.
131 pounds: No. 5 Senior Ashley Whetzal (Virginia Beach, Va.) lost to No. 3 Devin Patton in a 10-0 technica fall. William Penn leads, 16-6.
138 pounds: Missouri Valley left the weight class open, won by Kendall Bostelman. William Penn leads, 21-6.
145 pounds: No. 17 Freshman Sevreign Aumua (Grain Valley, Mo.) defeated No. 18 Naida Abdijanovic in a 5-4 decision. William Penn leads, 22-9.
160 pounds: No. 12 Senior Aniseta Acosta (Sacramento, Calif.) lost to Alexa Wolf in a first period (2:57) pin. William Penn leads, 27-9.
180 pounds: No. 13 Senior Elise Falcetti (St. Louis, Mo.) defeated No. 18 Grace Gray in a first period (2:35) pin. William Penn leads, 27-14.
207 pounds: No. 1 Senior Kelani Corbett (Wahiawa, Hawaii) defeated Daisy Cabriales in a first period (1:13) pin.
William Penn defeated Missouri Valley, 27-19. The Vikings drop to 2-5 in duals on the season.
Up next, the women's wrestling team competes at the Doane (Neb.) Open in Crete, Neb., Saturday. The men's team will compete at the Avila (Mo.) Eagles Duals in Kansas City, Mo., Dec. 14.
