Women's Wrestling Tops Waldorf and No. 8 William Penn on Road Duals

Forest City, Iowa, (Jan. 22, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College women's wrestling team traveled to Forest City Iowa, to compete against Waldorf (Iowa) and No. 8 William Penn, Monday evening for Heart of America Athletic Conference duals. The Vikings won the opener against Waldorf (Iowa), 35-10 and defeated No. 8 William Penn in the second dual, 40-6.

 

Vs. Waldorf (Iowa) University:

101 pounds: No. 19 Sophomore Sage Beltran (Honolulu, Hawaii) defeated Alanis Serrano-Rois in a 12-2 technical fall. Missouri Valley leads, 4-1.

109 pounds: Waldorf left the weight class open. No. 12 Junior Hailey Holland (San Bernardino, Calif.) won by forfeit. Missouri Valley leads, 9-1.

116 pounds: Waldorf left the weight class open. No. 15 Senior Laura Lincoln (Searcy, Ark.) won by forfeit. Missouri Valley leads, 14-1.

123 pounds: Senior Ashley Whetzal (Virginia Beach, Va.) defeated Amanda Durrant in a first period (1:09) pin. Missouri Valley leads, 19-1.

130 pounds: Freshman Chase Kiel (Kansas City, Mo.) lost to Jennifer Castaneda in an 8-6 decision. Missouri Valley leads, 20-4.

136 pounds: Senior Willow Barnes (Romulus, Mich.) defeated Kayla Reddick in a 9-3 decision. Missouri Valley leads, 23-5.

143 pounds: Senior Aniesta Acosta (Sacramento, Calif.) defeated Yana Paskar in a 10-0 technical fall. Missouri Valley leads, 27-5.

155 pounds: Junior Elise Falcetti (St. Louis, Mo.) defeated No. 16 Niah Smith in a 10-0 technical fall. Missouri Valley leads, 31-5.

170 pounds: Freshman Tylah Allen (Jonesboro, Ark.) defeated Amaya Lopez in a 10-0 technical fall. Missouri Valley leads, 35-5.

191 pounds: Missouri Valley left the weight class open. Joanna Hendricks won by forfeit. 

Missouri Valley defeats Waldorf, 35-10.

 

Vs. No. 8 William Penn (Iowa) University:

101 pounds: No. 8 William Penn left the weight class open. No. 19 Sophomore Sage Beltran (Honolulu, Hawaii) won by forfeit. Missouri Valley leads, 5-0.

109 pounds: No. 12 Holland defeated Teya Garner in a first period (0:22) pin. Missouri Valley leads, 10-0.

116 pounds: No. 15 Lincoln lost to No. 9 Catherine Stienkamp in a 10-0 technical fall. Missouri Valley leads, 10-4.

123 pounds: Quetzal defeated No. 18 Grecia Martinez in a first period (1:53) pin. Missouri Valley leads, 15-4.

130 pounds: Kiel defeated Alexis Cervantes in a first period (2:30) pin. Missouri Valley leads, 20-4.

136 pounds: Barnes defeated Sandra Arellano in a first period (1:46) pin. Missouri Valley leads, 25-4.

143 pounds: Acosta defeated Nadia Abdijonovic in a 10-0 technical fall. Missouri Valley leads, 29-4.

155 pounds: Senior Elizabeth Hubbard (Azle, Texas) defeated Kaylah Johnson in a 7-3 decision. Missouri Valley leads, 32-5.

170 pounds: Falcetti defeated Kylee Eastwood in a first period (1:43) pin. Missouri Valley leads, 37-5.

191 pounds: Allen defeated Sam Ruano in a 7-1 decision.

Missouri Valley defeats No. 8 William Penn, 40-6.

 

Exhibition Match:

Sophomore Madeline Santana (San Bernandino, Calif.) defeated Alexis Cervantes in a second period (3:21) pin.

 

Up next, the Vikings women's wrestling team will compete at the St. Mary Open on January 26th starting at 9 a.m., in Leavenworth, Kan.
