MISSOURI VALLEY COLLEGE POWERLIFTING TEAMS COMPETE AT MIDWEST COLLEGIATE REGIONALS 

 

Lebanon, Ill. (February 2-3, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College powerlifting teams competed at the Midwest Collegiate Regionals in Lebanon, Ill., Friday and Saturday qualifying four individuals for Collegiate Nationals. 

 

Graduate Student Shu'Ron Thompson (Kansas City, Mo.) (48kg) placed first and qualified for Collegiate Nationals with a total 275 kg/ 605 lb. Her best lifts were 102.5 kg/ 225.5 lbs on squat, 57.5 kg/ 126.5 lbs on bench press, and 115 kg/ 253 lbs on deadlift.

 

Senior Savanah Ewing (Stockton, Calif.) (52kg) placed third with a total of 230 kg/ 506 lb.  Her best lifts were 82.5 kg/ 181.5 lbs on squat, 45 kg/ 99 lbs on bench press, and 102.5 kg/ 225.5 lbs on deadlift. 

 

Senior Jane Watts (Liberty, Mo.) (60kg)  best lifts were 55 kg/ 121 lbs on bench press and 117.5 kg/ 259 lbs on deadlift. 

 

Sophomore Grace Justus (Troy, Mo.) (60 kg) best lift was 45 kg/ 99 lbs on bench press.

 

Sophomore Sydni Brandon (Parker, Co.) (75kg) had a total of 220 kg/ 484 lb. Her best lifts were 65 kg/ 143 lbs on squat, 57.5 kg/ 126.5 lbs on bench press, 97.5 kg/ 214.5 lbs on deadlift. 

 

Sophomore Elen Cabral (Betim, Brazil) (82.5kg) had a total of 187.5 kg/ 412.5 lb. Her best lifts were 55 kg/ 121 lbs on squat , 45 kg/ 99 lbs on bench press, and 87.5 kg/ 192.5 lbs on deadlift. 

 

Freshman Azlyn Schwarzer (Burleson, Tx.) (90kg)  placed fifth with a total of  347.5 kg/ 764.5 lb. Her best lifts were 130 kg/ 286 lbs on squat, 75 kg/ 165 lbs on bench press, and 142.5 kg/ 313.5 lbs on deadlift. 

 

Junior Audrey Schoch (San Antonio, Tx.) (100kg) placed first with a total of  460 kg/ 1,012 lb. She PR'ed all three lifts and hit her first total over 1,000 lbs. Her best lifts were 197.5 kg/ 434.5 lbs on squat,  82.5 kg/ 181.5 lbs on bench press, and 180 kg/ 396 lbs on deadlift.

 

Senior Reyven McDonald (Bonner Springs, Kan.) (100kg)  placed second with a total of 425 kg/ 935 lb and PR'ed in squat and bench press. Her best lifts were 177.5 kg/ 391 lbs on squat, 87.5 kg/ 192.5 lbs on bench press, and 160 kg/ 352 lbs on deadlift. 

 

Senior Macie Ables (Olathe, Kan.) (100+kg), placed second with a total of 460 kg/ 1,012 lb and  PR'ed on squat with a total of 190 kg/ 418 lb. Her best lifts were also  80 kg/ 176 lbs on bench press, and 195 kg/429 lb on deadlift. 

 

Freshman Raven Knoche (Lowden, Ia. ) (100+kg)  placed fourth with a total of 327.5 kg/ 720.5 kg  and PR's on squat and bench press. Her best lifts were 135 kg/ 297 lbs on squat, 67.5 kg/ 148.5 lbs on bench press, and 125 kg/ 275 lbs on deadlift.

 

Senior Lauren Bates (Kearney, Mo.) (100kg+) PR'ed on Squat with a total of 192.5 kg/ 423.5 lbs  and  195 kg/ 429 lbs on deadlift. 

 

Junior Corey Moribito (Lansdale, Pa.) (60kg) placed first with a total of 477.5 kg/ 1053 lb.  His best lifts were 165kg / 364 lb on squat , 112.5 kg / 248 lb on bench press and 200 kg / 441 lb on deadlift 

 

Senior Dawson Woehr (Folk, Mo.) (75kg) placed tenth with a total of 490 kg / 1080 lb . PR'ing on all his lifts, his best lifts were 167.5 kg / 369 lb on squat , 102.5 kg / 226 lb on bench press , and 220 kg / 485 lb on deadlift. 

 

Senior Joshua Barnhill (Burgaw, N.C.)(82.5kg) placed sixth with a total of 560 kg / 1245 lbs qualifying for Collegiate Nationals. PR'ing on squat and deadlift, his best lifts 197.5 kg / 435 lb on squat , 135 kg / 298 lb on bench press and 227.5 kg / 501 on deadlift . 

 

Sophomore Javier Medrano (Marshall, Mo) (82.5 kg) placed fifteenth with a total of 440 kg / 970 lb . PR'ing on bench , his best lifts were 162.5 kg / 358 lb on squat , 92.5 kg / 204 lb on bench press , and 185 kg / 408 lb on deadlift . 

 

Junior Aleix Costa (Barcelona, Spain ) (90kg) placed eleventh with a total of 430 kg / 948 lb. PR'ing on squat and deadlift , his best lifts were 132.5 kg / 292 lb on squat , 97.5 kg / 215 lb on bench press , and 200 kg / 441 lb on deadlift 

 

Sophomore Gabriel Pineda (Marshall, Mo) (100kg) placed second with a total of 647.5 kg / 1428 lb. PR'ing on squat , his best lifts were 250 kg / 551 lb on squat , 150 kg / 331 lb on bench press , and 247.5 kg / 546 lb on deadlift . 

 

Junior Alvaro Ateinza (Madrid, Spain) (100 kg) placed sixth with a total of 382.5 kg / 843 lb. His best lifts being 120 kg / 265 lb on squat ,  82.5 kg / 182 lb on bench press, and 180 kg / 397 lb on deadlift.

 

Graduate student Hayden Kilson (Carrollton, Mo)(110kg) placed first with a total 592.5 kg / 1306 lbs. PR'ing on all his lifts, his best lifts were 212.5 kg / 469 lb on squat , 122.5 kg / 270 lb on bench press , and 257.5 kg / 568 lb on deadlift 

 

Junior Markus Stepanoff (Milton, Ontario) (140kg) placed third with a total 645 kg / 1422 lb qualifying for Collegiate Nationals. PR'ing on all his lifts, his best lifts were 237.5 kg / 524 lb on squat , 135 kg / 298 lb on bench press , and 272.5 kg / 601 lb on deadlift. 

 

Junior Andrew Welty (Leavenworth, Kan.) (140+kg) placed first with a total of 465 kg / 1422 lb. His best lifts were  182.5 kg / 623 lb , 95 kg / 206 lb on bench press , and 187.5 kg / 413 lb  on deadlift

 

The women's team placed second overall while the men's team placed third.

 

Next up the teams will be competing at 2024 Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals April 11-14, 2024 in Atlanta, Ga.
