Shooting Sports Team Places Seventh at Doane Tiger Invitational

Lincoln, Neb., (March 13, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College shooting sports team competed at the Doane (Neb.) Tiger Invitational at Lincoln Trap and Skeet in Lincoln, Neb., over the weekend.  The Vikings competed against 11 teams, and finished seventh overall.

 

In trap, the team finished fourth overall with a total of 469/500.  Freshman Jack Duffin (Novato, Calif.) led the team with a total of 97/100, followed by Sophomore Lane Zabokrtsky (Fairbury, Neb.) and Freshman Paige Burns (Trail, Minn.) who both totaled 94/100.  Junior Blayne Kolb (Maysville, Mo.) finished with a 93/100 and Freshman Karina Bitencourt-Fiel (Brazil) added a 91/100.

 

In skeet, the team placed sixth with a total of 456/500.  Burns and Senior Alex Machetta (Raymore, Mo.) led with totals of 93/100, followed by Freshman Dakota Zaugg (Santa Maria, Calif.) at 92/100.  Both Duffin and Freshman Dylan Kempker (Eldon, Mo.) finished out the team scorers with 89/100 each.

 

In sporting clays, the team placed eighth with a 370/500.  Junior Charlie Maddox (Forest, Va.) led with an 81/100, while Duffin added a 79/100 and Zaugg had a 74/100.  Sophomore Hunter Sims (Sweet Springs, Mo.) finished with a 69/100 and Machetta totaled a 67/100.

 

As a team, Missouri Valley had a final total of 1,257 to place seventh, led by Duffin's total of 265/300.  Midland (Neb.) won the competition with a total of 1,339.

 

"This weekend featured some good competition," said Shooting Sports Head Coach Reba Kingsley.  "The student-athletes took away things they need to work on, and fine-tune at practice before leaving for Nationals."

 

Up next, the shooting sports team travels to San Antonio, Texas for the ACUI National Championship, at the National Shooting Sports Complex, March 19-23.
