Shooting Sports Puts Together Good Showing at Mizzou Tundra

Columbia, Mo., (Feb. 19, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College shooting sports team continued its season with the Mizzou Tundra competition at Prairie Grove Shooting Sports Complex in Columbia, Mo., over the weekend.  The team produced multiple top five individuals and was second overall.

 

In trap, the team placed first overall with a total of 460/00.  Sophomore Lane Zabrokrtsky (Fairbury, Ne.b) led with a 96/100, to finish on top of the event standings, followed by Freshman Jack Duffin (Novato, Calif.) at 94/100 who placed third.  Junior Blayne Kolb (Maysville, Mo.) added a 92/100 to place eighth, while both Freshman Dakota Zaugg (Santa Maria, Calif.) and Senior Kimmie Browne (New Melle, Mo.) finished the team score of an 89/100 each.  Browne was first in the women's standings, while Sophomore Josie Stuver (Carrollton, Mo.) was second with an 88/100 and Freshman Paige Burns (Trail, Minn.) was third with an 87/100.

 

In skeet, the team finished with a total of 460/500.  Junior Charlie Maddox (Forest, Va.) was top overall in the event with a 95/100, while Kolb was third with a 93/100 and Duffin fourth with a 93/100.  Burns led overall in women's scorers with a 91/100 and Browne finished out the team, and was third in the women's standings with an 88/100. 

 

In sporting clays, the team placed second with a total of 388/500.  Kolb placed first in the event standings with an 86/100, and Duffin was second with an 86/100.  Browne led the women's standings with a 73/100, followed by Senior Alex Machetta (Raymore, Mo.) at 72/100.  Junior Boe Caplan (Buellton, Calif.) was third overall in the women's standings and rounded out the team score with a 71/100.

 

In the individual High Overall men's standings, Duffin placed second with a 273 total, eight marks behind first, while Kolb was third at 271.  The High Overall women's standings featured Browne in second place with a 250 total, four marks behind first, followed by Burns at third with a 247 total.  Stuver was fourth with a 234, Caplan was fifth with a 233 and Junior Kilee Bradley-Robinson (Downing, Mo.) was sixth with a 199.

 

As a team, the Vikings placed second with a total of 1,290.  Lindenwood (Mo.) was first overall with a total of 1,300.  Oklahoma State was third with 1,270, Central Missouri was fourth with 1,173, and Missouri S&T was fifth with 791.

 

"This weekend presented some challenges out of the team's control, such as weather, but overall it allowed the student-athletes to practice their routine and identify areas to work on," said Head Coach Rebe Kingsley.

 

Up next, the team competes at the Lindenwood (Mo.) Spring Open, Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday takes place at the Gateway Gun Club in Hazelwood, Mo., and Sunday is at Nilo Farms in Brighton, Ill.
