Cross Country Teams Compete at Gans Creek Classic

Columbia, Mo., (Sept. 27, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo., Friday morning.  Both teams competed against NCAA Division I and Division II programs at the event.

 

Leading the men's team in the 8k race was Freshman Evans Kiptoo (Eldoret, Kenya), who finished at No. 356 with a time of 29:54.  Junior DeRel Morris (Brooklyn, N.Y.) came in at No. 379 with a time of 32:14, just ahead of Freshman Montique Griffiths (Clarendon, Jamaica) at No. No. 380, also with a time of 32:14.  Junior Angel Lopez (Los Fresnos, Texas) finished at No. 389 with a time of 38:34.

 

The women's team was led by Senior Camille Humphrey (St. Charles, Mo.), who finished the 6k race in a time of 29:12 to place at No. 288.  Freshman Faraja Nyasa (Kansas City, Mo.) followed at No. 301 in a time of 32:06, and Freshman Brynna Wentland (Higginsville, Mo.) came in at No. 302 in a time of 32:15. Freshman Emily Dolberry (Arlington, Texas) placed at No. 306 in a time of 36:43.

 

Up next, the Viking cross country teams compete at the Missouri Western Griffon Invite, Saturday, Sept. 5, in St. Joseph, Mo.
