No. 17 Men's Wrestling Tops Baker on the Road

Baldwin City, Kan. (Jan. 15, 2025)- The No. 17 Missouri Valley College men's wrestling team traveled to Baldwin City, Kan., for a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual Wednesday evening. The Vikings won eight of the weight classes, including six by pin, to earn a 46-6 victory.

 

125 pounds: No. 24 Sophomore Robert Albert (Cape Coral, Fla.) lost to Saoul Padro in an 11-6 decision. Baker leads, 3-0.

133 pounds: Baker left the weight class open. Sophomore Ryker Smith (Kansas City, Mo.) won by forfeit. Missouri Valley leads, 6-3.

141 pounds: Junior Devin Martinez (El Monte, Calif.) defeated Jake Barnes in a 13-0 major decision. Missouri Valley leads, 10-3.

149 pounds: Sophomore Blaine Ortiz (Pineville, Mo.) lost to Joseph Triscornia in a 4-2 decision. Missouri Valley leads, 10-6.

157 pounds: Freshman Brayden Shelton (Centralia, Mo.) defeated Jakob Stovall in a second period (3:41) pin. Missouri Valley leads, 16-6.

165 pounds: No. 18 Senior Dayton Hill (Broken Arrow, Okla.) defeated Noah Sample in a first period (1:30) pin. Missouri Valley leads, 22-6.

174 pounds: No. 18 Junior Francis Morrissey (Warner Robins, Ga.) defeated Kemandrell Hamilton in a first period (0:58) pin. Missouri Valley leads, 28-6.

184 pounds: Senior Drake Tipton (Grain Valley Mo.) defeated Eli Messik in a first period (2:35) pin. Missouri Valley leads, 34-6.

197 pounds: Junior Emmanuel Ayi-Bonte (Woodbridge, Va.) defeated Braden Thompson in a first period (2:47) pin. Missouri Valley leads, 40-6.

285 pounds: No. 23 Sophomore Jayden Joseph (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) defeated Elijah Eslinger in a first period (1:48) pin. 

Missouri Valley defeats Baker, 46-6.

 

Missouri Valley improves to 9-4 on the season in duals, while Baker falls to 2-5.

Up next, the Viking men's wrestling team will host Graceland (Iowa) in a Heart of America Athletic Conference contest, Friday at 7 p.m., inside the Burns Athletic Complex.
