
Track & Field Teams Open Outdoor Season Producing a Winner at CMU Open
Fayette, Mo., (March 15, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College track and field teams opened their outdoor season competing at CMU Open in Fayette, Mo., Friday and Saturday. The women's team was led by Sophomore Jozelynn Bostick (Centralia, Mo.) who won the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:25.54. Leading the men's team were Freshman Stephen Caviness (Marshall, Mo.) and Freshman Dante Gordon (Kingston, Jamaica), who both placed second in their respective event.
Women's Results:
Sophomore Jozelynn Bostick (Centralia, Mo.): took first place in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:25.54.
Freshman Kila Burchett (Stockton, Calif.): placed fourth in the javelin throw with a distance of 33.12 meters.
Senior Paula Romero Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain): placed fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 43.07 meters. She also finished 6th in the discus throw with a distance of 34.23 meters, and placed No. 9 in the shot put with a distance of 10.55 meters.
Senior Camille Humphrey (St. Peters, Mo.): placed fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:40.57.
Freshman Aarion Pickens: placed sixth in the shot put with a distance of 11.22 meters. She also finished 8th in the hammer throw with a distance of 39.00 meters.
Freshman Shaliah McKoy (Kingston, Jamaica): placed ninth in the long jump with a distance of 4.60 meters. She also finished No. 12 in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:08.46.
Senior Kylie Linson (Troy, Mo.): placed 11th in the hammer throw with a distance of 36.48 meters. She also finished No. 14 in the shot put with a distance of 10.08 meters.
Sophomore Isabella Kulenkamp (Warrensburg, Mo.): placed 12th in the discus throw with a distance of 32.36 meters. She also finished No. 19 in the hammer throw with a distance of 32.60 meters.
Freshman Jaedyn Smith: placed 14th in the discus throw with a distance of 30.80 meters. She also finished No. 18 in the shot put with a distance of 9.56 meters.
Junior Sydnei Cummings (Elk, Grove, Calif.): placed 19th in the javelin throw with a distance of 22.41 meters.
Men's Results:
Freshman Stephen Caviness (Marshall, Mo.): placed second in the high jump with a height of 1.91 meters. He also finished 14th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.41.
Freshman Dante Gordon (Kingston, Jamaica): placed second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 56.75.
Sophomore Joseph Lepak (Grandview, Mo.): placed third in the javelin throw with a distance of 52.56 meters.
Junior Daytona Blaine (Shelbina, Mo.): placed sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:06.46.
Freshman Steven Mills (Kansas City, Kan.): placed eight in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.54. He also finished 17th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.46.
Freshman Darius Thomas (Fort Worth, Texas): placed 10th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.50. He also finished No. 12 in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.36.
Freshman Amardeep Basra (Houton, Texas): placed 17th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.27. He also finished No. 24 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.83.
Senior Luke Clayton (Wichita, Kan.): placed 22nd in the hammer throw with a distance of 30.20 meters. He also finished 22nd in the shot put with a distance of 10.16 meters, and placed No. 23 in the discus throw with a distance of 34.74 meters.
Up next, the Viking track and field teams will compete at the Miner Invitational in Rolla, Mo., on March 21-22.
