Track and Field Competes at the Heart Outdoor Championship

Baldwin City, Kan., (May 4, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College track and field teams traveled to Baldwin City, Kan., to compete at the 2024 Heart Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championship, Presented by WinWon Technologies, Friday and Saturday. The men's team was led by Freshman Joseph Lepak who finished third in the javelin throw. The women's team was led by Sophomore Federica Gammarota who finished fourth in the 400 meter hurdles. Four Vikings earned Heart All-Conference status, Joseph Lepak earned 3rd Team All-Conference and Chase Buford, Federica Gammarota and Jozelynn Bostick earned Honorable Mention All-Conference.

 

Men's Results:

Freshman Joseph Lepak: placed third in the javelin throw with a distance of 55.04 meters.

Sophomore Chase Buford (Republic, Mo.): placed fifth in the long jump with a distance of 6.98 meters. He also placed 19th in the 100 meter dash prelims with a time of 11.22 and did not qualify for the final event.

Freshman Terrill Davis placed 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 12.23 meters.

Freshman Matthew Fisher (Houston, Texas): placed 12th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.55. 

Freshman Al'zaveon Harris: placed No. 12 in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.83. He also finished 17th in the 200 meter dash prelims with a time of 23.05 and did not qualify for the final event.

Senior Khobi Kellerman (Auxvasse, Mo.): placed 16th in the 10000 meter run with a time of 36:07.26. 

Sophomore Derel Morris (New York, N.Y.): placed 19th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.88.

4x400 meter relay (Morris, Fisher, Harris, Brown) placed 10th with a time of 3:34.10.

 

Women's Results:

Sophomore Federica Gammarota (Foggia, Italy): placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.28. She also finished 13th in the 100 meters hurdles prelims with a time of 16.61 and did not qualify for the final event. 

Freshman Jozelynn Bostick (Centralia, Mo.) placed fifth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:14.39. She also finished 16th in the 5000 meter run with a time of 20.29.47.

Junior Samantha Bitz (Marion, Ill.): placed seventh in the pole vault with a height of 2.65 meters.

Freshman Emily Dolberry (Arlington, Texas): placed 10th in the high jump with a height of 1.45 meters.

Junior Paula Romero Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain): placed 11th in the hammer throw with a distance of 44.63 meters. She also finished No. 15 in the shot put with a distance of 10.56 meters and 20th in the discus throw with a distance of 32.96.

Sophomore Emily Lechuga (LaPorte, Texas): placed 11th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:15.32.

Freshman Alexis Neff: placed 11th in the pole vault with a height of 2.65 meters.

Freshman Isabella Kulenkamp (Warrensburg, Mo.): placed 14th in the discus throw with a distance of 34.71 meters.

Senior Macie Ables (Olathe, Kan.): placed 15th in the hammer throw with a distance of 43.56 meters.

Freshman Sydnei Cummings: placed 17th in the javelin throw with a distance of 26.70 meters.

Junior Kylie Linson (Troy, Mo.): placed 21st in the hammer throw with a distance of 39.25 meters. She also finished No. 18 in the shot put with a distance of 10.02 meters.

Freshman Mya McKenzie (St. Louis, Mo.): placed ninth in the 100 meter dash prelims with a time of 12.80 and did not qualify for the final event. She also finished 13th in the 200 meter dash prelims with a time of 26.46 and did not qualify for the final event.

4x100 meter relay (McKenzie, Bitz, Hysten, Gammarota) placed 9th with a time of 51.20.

4x400 meter relay (Lechuga, Freshman Choize Hysten (Topeka, Kan.), McKenzie, Gammarota) placed ninth with a time of 4:18.18.
