MISSOURI VALLEY COLLEGE TRACK AND FIELD TEAMS COMPETE AT LINCOLN OPEN

Jefferson City, Mo., (April 7, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College track and field teams continued their outdoor seasons with the Lincoln (Mo.) Open in Jefferson City, Mo., Saturday.  The teams competed against NCAA Division II and NAIA programs, producing event winners in both men's and women's events.

 

Women's Results:

The Vikings placed third overall with 110 total points.  Freshman Jozelynn Bostick (Centralia, Mo.) won the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:11.92, and added a sixth place finish in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:19.47.  The team produced a total of 19 finishes in the top eight, with the majority of those finishes in the field events.  Junior Samantha Bitz (Marion, Ill.) placed second in the pole vault with a height of 2.45 meters, and added a fifth place finish in the long jump with a distance of 4.60 meters.  Junior Paula Romero Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain) placed second in the hammer throw with a distance of 46.06 meters, added a third place finish in the shot put with a distance of 11.73 meters and a fifth place finish in the discus with a distance of 35.57 meters. Other women's results:

 

Freshman Emily Dolberry (Arlington, Texas) placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 9.46 meters.  She also placed fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.42 meters.

 

Freshman Alexis Neff placed third in the pole vault with a height of 2.30 meters.  She also placed No. 13 in the 200 meter dash in a time of 29.34.

 

Sophomore Federica Gammarota (Sofoggia, Italy) placed third in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:07.50.  She also placed third in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 16.58.

 

Sophomore Zoey Chrisman (Brookfield, Mo.) placed fourth in the shot put with a distance of 11.49 meters.  She also placed fourth in the discus with a distance of 35.65 meters and fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 40.47 meters.

 

Freshman Mya McKenzie (St. Louis, Mo.) placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 4.86 meters.  She also placed tenth in the 200 meter dash in a time of 28.10.

 

Freshman Sydnei Cummings placed fourth in the javelin throw with a distance of 26.78 meters.

 

4x100 meter relay team (Freshman Zaya Dove (Kansas City, Mo.), Freshman Mya McKenzie (St. Louis, Mo.), Freshman Alexis Neff, Freshman Choize Hysten (Topeka, Kan.) placed fourth with a time of 52.11.

 

Junior Kylie Linson (Troy, Mo.) placed sixth in the shot put with a distance of 10.71 meters.

 

Freshman Ahnesty Shurme (Tyler, Texas) placed seventh in the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:04.49.  She also placed No. 16 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.59.

 

Freshman Isabella Kulenkamp (Warrensburg, Mo.) placed seventh in the discus with a distance of 32.39 meters.  She also placed eighth in the hammer throw with a distance of 35.66 meters.

 

Freshman Choize Hysten (Topeka, Kan.) placed No. 11 in the 200 meter dash in a time of 28.17.

 

Junior Samantha Bitz (Marion, Ill.) placed No. 14 in the 200 meter dash in a time of 29.45.

 

Men's Results:

The men's team placed sixth in the standings, earning 42 points.  The team produced nine top eight finishes, led by Freshman Joseph Lepak who won the javelin throw with a distance of 49.05 meters.  Freshman Terrill Davis placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 13.45 meters, and Freshman Mac Dawkins (Spokane, Wash.) finished third in the long jump with a distance of 6.43 meters.  Leading the track competitors was Senior Khobi Kellerman (Auxvasse, Mo.), who placed fourth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:26.66, to go with a seventh place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:09.31.  Other men's results:

 

Sophomore Derel Morris (New York, N.Y.) placed fifth in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:05.87.

 

Freshman Matthew Fisher (Houston, Texas) placed sixth in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:00.63.

 

Freshman Evans Kiptoo placed seventh in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:35.06.

 

Freshman Al'zaveon Harris (St. Petersburg, Fla.) placed seventh in the 200 meter dash in a time of 23.44.  He also placed tenth in the 400 meter dash in a time of 51.38.

 

Junior Ranse Santiago (Kaufman, Texas) placed ninth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:15.64.

 

 

Senior Tyler Polley (Brookfield, Mo.) placed No. 12 in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:32.48.

 

Senior Angel Lopez (Los Fasnos, Texas) placed No. 13 in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:35.42.  He also placed No. 16 in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.48.

 

Freshman Jorge Munoz (Spain) placed No. 15 in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.01.

 

Lincoln finished first in the women's standings with 192 points, followed by Central Methodist (Mo.) in second place with 118 points and Missouri Valley in third with 110 points.  Lincoln placed first in the men's standings with 194 points, and the Vikings were sixth with 42 points.
