
Tennis Teams Fall to Nationally Ranked Willliam Woods
Marshall, Mo., (March 17, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's tennis team hosted Nationally ranked William Woods (Mo.) squads Saturday afternoon at Indian Foothills Park. The men's team fell to the No. 7 Owls, 6-1 in matches, while the women's team fell to No. 22 WWU, 7-0.

No. 1-Freshman Sergio Martinez/Senior Caratti (Novara, Italy) lost to Ben Grumley/Zinovii Nahirniak, 3-6.
No. 2-Sophomore Alecson Deschamps (Bluemenau, Brazil)/Freshman Alvaro Ruiz lost to Vaclav Schneider/Vitek Subert, 3-6.
No. 3-Sophomore Alexis Diaz (Bordeaux, France)/Freshman Ruslan Anurev (Novorossiysk, Russia) defeated Felix Diedrichs/Andres De Los Rios, 7-6.
Singles:
No. 1-Martinez lost to Schneider, 6-2, 0-6, 2-6.
No. 2-Deschamps lost to Nahirniak, 1-6, 2-6.
No. 3-Anurev lost to Stephan Mach, 4-6, 3-6.
No. 4-Caratti lost to De Los Rios, 3-6, 1-6.
No. 5-Diaz defeated Diedrichs, 6-2, 7-6, 10-4.
No. 6-Ruiz lost to Arne Magnus Knott, 6-7, 6-3, 7-10.

The men's team drops to 4-4 on the season, while the women's team falls to 3-5.
Up next, the Viking tennis teams will travel to Lebanon, Ill., for matches against NCAA Division II McKendree (Ill.), Friday at 2 p.m.
