Bio

Vladimir Simic has served as the head coach of the men's soccer program since 2002.

Coach Simic came to MVC from Mount Senario College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. While at Mount Senario, he also played four years for the nationally ranked soccer team that won back-to-back NAIA Region Championships. The program made two NAIA National Tournament appearances in 1999 and 2000. During his extensive playing career both in Europe and the United States, Simic has received many awards and recognitions for his accomplishments and team contributions.

Simic has had an opportunity to polish his coaching skills at various youth level programs in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Indiana, and holds a USSF National Coaching License.

Since 2010, Simic has won six Heart regular season championships (2010, 2011, 2014, 2017, 2022, 2023), five Heart Postseason Tournament titles (2010, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2023), qualified for the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship 12 times (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023), advanced to the National site ten times (2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023), the National semifinals four times (2015, 2017, 2018, 2020), played in three National championship matches (2017, 2018, 2020) and won the 2020 National championship. Simic has also been named the Heart Coach of the Year four times (2011, 2014, 2017, 2023) and NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year twice (2014, 2017). His staff was also named the United Soccer Coaches' NAIA Men's Soccer Staff of the Year in 2020.

Coach Simic won his 100th game as Viking head coach on 9/15/12 in a win over Park (Mo.). His 200th win came on 10/27/19 in a 2-0 win over Grand View (Iowa). Simic's program has produced 22 All-America selections since 2011, and two NAIA National Player of the Year selections (Uros Ilic in 2017, Luka Gluscevic in 2020). He has a career record of 297-125-39. Simic has also earned a UEFA Coaching License and an NSCAA Coaching License.

Coach Simic is originally from Belgrade, Serbia. He completed his master’s in business management at Lindenwood University in 2002. He and his wife, Milena, reside in Marshall with their daughter, Katarina, and son, Aleksandar.
