Men's Lacrosse Falls to William Penn on the Road

Oskaloosa, Iowa, (April 1, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's lacrosse team traveled to Oskaloosa, Iowa for a Heart of America Athletic Conference match against No. 10 William Penn (Iowa), Tuesday evening. The Vikings dropped the contest to the Statesmen.  

 

The game started with the Statesmen going in front early, as they opened the scoreboard with less than two minutes into the game. Senior Goalkeeper Jake Lipscomb (Boiling Springs, S.C.) came up with five saves in the first quarter, but Missouri Valley trailed 7-0 at the end of the quarter. William Penn increased its lead through the second quarter, and MVC went into halftime trailing, 16-0. The Statesmen continued to extend their lead through the rest of the third and fourth quarter, and Senior Defender Alvaro Atienza (Madrid, Spain) scored the final goal of the match for the Vikings, but the team fell, 24-1.

Atienza finished with one goal, while Lipscomb made 20 saves in goal. Missouri Valley forced 12 turnovers, and came up with seven ground balls. 

The loss drops Missouri Valley to 0-5 on the season and 0-5 in the Heart, while William Penn improves to 6-3 overall and 5-0 in the conference.

Up next, the men's lacrosse team will host William Woods (Mo.), for a Heart match, Saturday at 4 p.m., inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium.
