
Men's Golf Finishes Second at State Fair Invitational
Sedalia, Mo., (March 19, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College men's golf team played in the State Fair (Mo.) Invitational at the Sedalia Country Club in Sedalia, Mo., Monday and Tuesday. The Vikings finished second overall with three top ten individuals.
Junior Isaac Taleb (Pereira, Colombia) led the team with a two-round score of +14 (158) to place seventh overall, 16 strokes back of first place. Following was Sophomore Joaquin Calderon (Quito, Ecuador) and Freshman Thomas Skevington (Farnham, United Kingdom) in a tie for eighth, each with a score of +15 (159). Senior Sebasthian Contreras (Bogota, Colombia) rounded out the team scorers with a +19 (163) to place at No. 13. Freshman Jullian Ayape (Bayonne, France) placed in a tie for No. 15 with a final score of +21 (165).
Also competing as individuals were Junior Leonardo Borzaga (Trento, Italy) who finished at No. 18 with a +26 (170) and Freshman Jackson Tobias (Warrenton, Mo.) at No. 23 with a +85 (229).
Missouri Valley placed second overall with a final score of +60 (636). No. 25 William Woods (Mo.) won the tournament with a score of +11 (587).
Up next, the Viking golf teams will compete at the William Woods (Mo.) Spring Invite, at Tanglewood Golf Club in Fulton, Mo., March 25-26.
