Bio
William “Bill” Tuck came to Missouri Valley College in 1970. As a Viking, Bill was a member of the men’s wrestling program, earning three varsity letters in the sport. Bill served as team captain on the wrestling team in 1972 and was a national qualifier. Bill was also active in V-Club and Tri-Beta.
Bill graduated from MVC in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. Bill’s 30-year career in education includes five years in the Kearney, Mo. School District and 25 years in the Excelsior Springs, Mo. district where he retired. At Excelsior Springs, Bill coached the wrestling program where he held a 272-43-17 record in team competitions and produced 17 individual state titles. He was also a member of the school’s softball coaching staff during their state title run in 1998.
Bill has been inducted into the Excelsior Springs Tiger Hall of Fame twice- once as wrestling coach and also as a member of the coach staff for the softball state title team. He was inducted into the Missouri Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame in 2007 and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2008.
Bill says Dr. Ed Elliot was the person that influenced him the most during his time at Missouri Valley College.
Bill and his wife, Joyce, currently reside in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
