Bio
Peter Roetzer was a two-sport student-athlete during his time at Missouri Valley, excelling on the football and baseball fields. He was a four-year letter winner in each sport, and was a member of the 1974 NAIA Division II National Runner-up team. His senior season, Roetzer was chosen as a captain on both the football and baseball teams. He was a two-time all-conference selection, and earned all-district honors, along with honorable mention consideration for the all-American team his senior season. Roetzer graduated cum laude in 1977 with a degree in physical education and health.
Outside of athletics, Roetzer was an active member of the V-Club, serving as treasurer and president of the club during his time at Missouri Valley. He was also a member of the TKE fraternity, serving as chapter president. Roetzer was chosen as Mr. Viking in 1977.
After graduating from Missouri Valley, Roetzer taught for two years in Cabool, Mo., and coached wrestling for eight years. He has been an owner of his own construction business for nearly 20 years, Pete Roetzer Concrete, based out of Getzville, N.Y. Other professional highlights include induction into the Western New York Wrestling Hall of Fame, officiating the New York State Wrestling Championships and induction into the Maryvale (N.Y.) High School Hall of Fame. Roetzer also earned the ACI Award for Decorative Concrete.
Roetzer credits Ken Gibler and Grover Redford as two people that greatly influenced him during his time at Missouri Valley. He also says that all his teammates and fellow students greatly impacted him during his time as a Viking.
