Bio
Paul Day enjoyed a four-year career on the Missouri Valley College football team during his time with the program. As a three-year starter at linebacker, Day earned first team all-conference honors after both the 1989 and 1990 seasons. He was named team captain in 1990 and helped the program to a record of 29-10-1 during his four years, including a conference championship in 1989 and a National postseason quarterfinal appearance that season. In addition to football, Day was active in the V-Club, TKE fraternity and was named Mr. Viking in 1991.
After graduating with a bachelor's degreein education, Day began his career as a high school football coach. He has led three programs during his career, spending 15 years at Fort Zumwalt West (Mo.) High School, five years at Owensville (Mo.) High School and is in his fourth season as head coach at Vianney (Mo.) High School. In 2014, he was inducted into the Missouri High School Football Coaches' Association Hall of Fame. Day has led teams to nine conference championships, eight district championships, advanced to the state quarterfinals on four occasions and led Fort Zumwalt West to a state semifinal appearance in 2010. He has been named the St. Louis Coaches' Association Coach of the Year (2010), St. Louis National Football Foundation Coach of the Year/Program of the Year (2010), named Conference Coach of the Year four times and has been named District Coach of the Year four times. Over 300 of his student-athletes have earned academic all-conference honors and he has helped over 50 of his players earn college scholarships.
Day says it was a blessing to play for Ken Gibler at Missouri Valley and credits his football coach as someone who greatly influenced him during his time in college. Day says the lessons Gibler taught him and his teammates focusing on hard work, perseverance, integrity, competitiveness, honesty and selflessness are still carried by him to this day. He adds it's a great compliment to Gibler's impact on those who came through the program by the number of former players that wanted to follow in his footsteps.
