In all, Parker played in all 41 games during his four-year stretch with the program, starting in 39 of those games. He was a key piece of the 1994 offense that averaged nearly 37 points per game under Head Coach Greg Purdum, and helped the team capture a Heart regular season title, along with making an appearance in the NAIA Football Championship Series. Parker was selected to play in a college All-Star game in Orlando, Fla., following the 1994 season.
Following his playing career, Parker spent 20 years as a science teacher and coach, focusing on football, wrestling, basketball, track and field, and swimming. He was named to the Who’s Who of top science educators in the United States. Additionally, Parker was a Texas Masters state swimming champion in the 50 meter freestyle, and the state record holder for his age group. Following his teaching career, Parker has been an award-winning salesman for Ferguson Fire and Fabrication, winning the company’s President’s award twice, as one of the top salesmen in the Nation.
Parker credits both Reed Kepner and Greg Purdum as two people that greatly influenced him during his time at Missouri Valley. Parker recognizes Kepner’s assistance as an academic counselor and science professor for being a tremendous influence on pursuing a teaching career. Parker also recognizes Purdum as the person that drove and motivated him to improve every single day on the football field. In addition, Parker appreciates his Sigma Nu fraternity brothers for the friendships that were formed during his time at Missouri Valley College.
