Bio

Michael Bruce "Woody" Forrest found success during his time at Missouri Valley College from 1974-1979, earning all-conference and all-American honors in both football. Woody was a three-year letterman on the Viking football team, playing on the 1974 National runner-up squad. He was also part of four Heart of America Athletic Conference championship teams from 1974 through 1977. Woody earned all-conference and all-district recognition following the 1976 and 1977 seasons, was elected co-captain of the 1977 football team and was an honorable mention all-American selection by the NAIA following the 1977 season. During his time playing Viking football, the team compiled an overall record of 34-6-2.

In addition to his football achievements, Woody was also a three-year letterman in track and field competing in the shot put event and was an active member in V-Club and Sigma Nu. Woody also was a student assistant coach for both the football and women's basketball teams.


After graduating in 1979 with a B.S. degree in education with a minor in social studies, Woody spent 23 years United States Postal Service. He also spent 35 years as a high school football referee in Missouri, retiring in 2013. He also has spent time as an umpire for high school baseball and softball, and was selected in 2008 to officiate the state championship rounds. Woody has also been active with the Carroll County (Mo.) Little League Association as a coach, official and volunteer for 20 years.


Woody owns a farm and raises cattle in Bosworth, Mo., with his wife of 38 years Donna (Ireland) Forrest, a'79 graduate of Missouri Valley College. They have three sons, including Bradley Forrest a '03 Missouri Valley College graduate, and four grand-children.

Woody credits four people with having a great influence on him during his time at Missouri Valley College. Those four individuals include Ken Gibler, Grover C. Redford, Reed Kepner and Ed Leslie.
