Bio

M.K. “Mickey” McLellan graduated from Missouri Valley College in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in chemistry.

Mickey spent four years at MVC where he was a four-year letterman and threeyear starter for the Viking football team playing both offense and defense, and holding a position on the special teams unit. He received First Team All-Conference honors as a corner linebacker in 1961, when the Vikings recorded a 9-0-1 season. In addition to football, Mickey was the team captain and pitcher for MVC’s reinitiated baseball team, which won the Heart of America Athletic Conference championship in its first year. In 1962, Mickey was selected as “Mr. Viking” by the Varsity Letterman’s Club (V-Club). While at MVC, he was also an active member of Tri-Beta.

Today, Mickey continues to assist and support the MVC football coaching staff in their recruiting efforts in the Houston area, scouting local high school talent, and providing introductions, lodging, food, and transportation for visiting Valley coaches.

Mickey says that Volney C. Ashford and Grover C. Redford are the two people that influenced him the most during his time at Valley.

Mickey retired from Dow Chemical Company and currently resided in The Woodlands, Texas.
