Bio

Lacie (Moore) Sturdy is one of the most decorated rodeo cowgirls in program-history, and helped set the bar of success for women’s rodeo student-athletes in the program.  Lacie earned multiple individual and team championships and reserve championships in the Ozark Region during her competition days in the early 2000’s.  As a freshman in 2001, Lacie was the region champion in goat tying, helping her team to a reserve championship in the Ozark Region that season.  Lacie followed in 2002 with the all-round cowgirl reserve championship in the Ozark Region for the women’s all-around, competing in both breakaway roping and goat tying, again helping the women’s rodeo team to a reserve championship in the region.  In 2003, Lacie was again the reserve champion in goat tying in the Ozark Region, this time helping the women’s team to an Ozark Region title.  In her senior season, Lacie captured her second goat tying region championship, as the team finished as reserve champions in the Ozark Region once again.  In addition to her success in the region, Lacie was a four-time College National Finals Rodeo qualifier, and capped her career placing sixth in goat tying at the 2004 CNFR to earn All-American honors.

Lacie has continued to be recognized for her rodeo career, as she has been inducted into the Iowa High School Rodeo Hall of Fame.  Lacie credits her coach, Otey McCloy, for his knowledge of the sport.  Recognizing that he was a great coach that helped her tremendously in the practice pen.  Lacie also credits Eric Thompsen for the impact he had as a marketing teacher during her time at Missouri Valley.
