Coach Godfriaux is the father of intercollegiate football at Missouri Valley College coaching football from 1921 to 1937.  Coach Godfriaux brought “club” football squads together and organized an intercollegiate team which took the “Viking” name.  Coach Godfriaux career record was 70-36-13 and he led his teams to three M.C.A.U. championships and in 1933 his team won the M.I.A.A. championship.

Coach Godfriaux was an innovator introducing the famous “Spinner Single Wing” offense and was running plays off the “T” formation long before it became popular.  Another innovation Coach Godfriaux introduced to the Vikings was the use a metronome connected to a battery powered horn during football practice which resulted in a team that operated with great precision.  Not only was Coach Godfriaux a great strategist, he was also a great builder of men; physically, morally, and spiritually.

Henri Godfriaux graduated from William Jewell College and earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin.  After serving in World War I, Henri coached in Plattsburg (MO) and Marshall before coming to Missouri Valley College.

Coach Godfriaux is the first non-alumnus to be inducted into the Missouri Valley College Athletic Hall of Fame.
