Bio
Stan McKinney was a member of the early 1970's football teams that found great success in the conference and Nationally. Stan played on the 1974 NAIA National runner-up Viking football team and was a four-year letterman playing linebacker. Stan received a number of individual honors during his playing time at Missouri Valley, including first team all-conference honors, all-district honors and was an honorable mention all-American selection in 1975. Also during the 1975 season, Stan was voted as a co-captain and led MVC to a second-straight Heart of America Athletic Conference championship.
In addition to his play on the football field, Stan was a letterman on the Viking baseball team, a four-year member of the V-Club, a member of Alpha Sigma Phi and was named Mr. Viking his senior year.
Stan graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He spent most of his professional career working in finance at the Chicago Board of Trade. In addition to his work, Stan spends his free time enjoying golf and has coached youth basketball, baseball and soccer teams.
Stan credits his football coach at Missouri Valley, Ken Gibler, as the person who greatly influenced him during his time in college. Stan credited Gibler's consistency regarding approaching the game of football that was most influential.
Stan resides in Skokie, Ill., with his wife Joanie McKinney, '77. The two have three grown children.
