Bio

Donald Kalthoff came to Missouri Valley College in 1958. Making his mark on the Viking football team, Don was a three-year starter playing offense, defense, and special teams. In 1960, Don was named co-captain of the football team. That year he received first team allconference honors and was an honorable mention all-American. During his playing career at MVC, the football team compiled a 22-4-1 record. Don was a member of the 1958 football team that was inducted into the MVC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008.

Don graduated from Missouri Valley in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. He received his teaching certification from MVC in 1964. Don went on to teach and coach football, basketball, and track and field.

In 1970 Don’s Grain Valley High School football team won the conference championship and finished that season ranked No. 6 in the state. He obtained a master’s degree in 1972 from Central Missouri State University. He was employed by Voc Rehab for 19 years working his way from counselor to appeals counselor during his tenure. Don is now retired and is a member of the Missouri Retired Teachers’ Association.

Don says the two people that influenced him the most while at Missouri Valley College were Coach Volney Ashford and Coach Grover C. Redford. Don and his wife, Mary, currently reside in Independence, Mo.
