
Track and Field Teams Continue Season at Lincoln Open
Jefferson City, Mo., (April 5, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Lincoln Open (Mo.), Saturday, in Jefferson City, Mo. The Vikings competed against programs from multiple collegiate divisions at the event. The women's team was led by Senior Kylie Linson, who finished second in shot put with a distance of 13.13 meters, and three other Vikings finished third in their respective event. Leading the men's team was Freshman Micah Mumford, who placed third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.93. Some events could not take place due to the rain.
Women's Results:
Senior Kylie Linson (Troy, Mo.): placed second in the shot put with a distance of 13.13 meters. She also finished 12th in the hammer throw with a distance of 36.05 meters.
Freshman Aarion Pickens: placed third in the shot put with a distance of 10.87 meters.
Freshman Kila Burchett (Stockton, Calif.): placed third in the javelin throw with a distance of 29.49 meters.
Junior Federica Gammarota (Foggia, Italy): placed third in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.35. She also finished fifth in the 100 meter hurdles prelims with a time of 17.52, but did not qualify for the final event.
Senior Paula Romero Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain): placed sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 43.24 meters.
Senior Samantha Bitz (Marion, Ill.): placed seventh in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.75.
Sophomore Jozelynn Bostick (Centralia, Mo.): placed eighth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:11.14.
Freshman Shaliah McKoy (Kingston, Jamaica): placed eighth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.80. She also finished 9th in the long jump with a distance of 4.20 meters.
Freshman Brynna Wentland (Higginsville, Mo.): placed ninth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:13.84.
Freshman Jaedyn Smith: placed ninth in the shot put with a distance of 8.53 meters.
Freshman Dimitria Sweet: placed tenth in the 100 meter dash prelims with a time of 14.00, but did not qualify for the final event.
Sophomore Isabella Kulenkamp (Warrensburg, Mo.): placed No. 13 in the hammer throw with a distance of 35.80 meters.
Junior Sydnei Cummings (Elk, Grove, Calif.): placed 15th in the javelin throw with a distance of 18.86 meters.
4x100 Meter Relay team 'A' (McKoy, Lechuga, Bitz, Sweet) placed third with a final time of 52.44.
Men's Results:
Freshman Micah Mumford: placed third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.93. He also finished 8th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.54.
Freshman Montique Griffiths: placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.72.
Freshman Darius Thomas (Fort Worth, Texas): placed sixth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1.01.52. He also finished ninth in the 100 meter dash prelims with a time of 11.77, but did not qualify for the final event.
Freshman Joseph James (Excelsior Springs, Mo.): placed fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.01.
Freshman Marcus Evans (Jonesboro, Ark.): placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 5.56 meters. He also finished 14th in the 100 meter dash prelims with a time of 12.04, but did not qualify for the final event.
Freshman Dante Gordon (Kingston, Jamaica): placed ninth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.69.
Freshman Harrison James (Independence, Mo.): placed 16th in the 100 meter dash prelims with a time of 12.15, but did not qualify for the final event.
Junior Daytona Blaine (Shelbina, Mo.): placed 17th in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:26.54.
Sophomore Evans Kiptoo (Eldoret, Kenya): placed 18th in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:57.00.
Up next, the Viking track and field teams will compete at the Outdoor Mule Relays (Mo.) in Warrensburg, Mo., on April 11.
