
Men's Volleyball Student-Athlete Earns Weekly Heart Award
Marshall, Mo., (March 31, 2025)- A Missouri Valley College men's volleyball student-athlete has earned a weekly award from the Heart of America Athletic Conference following a pair of victories last week.
Sophomore Outside Hitter Andrey Bastos (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) has been named the Heart Men's Volleyball Attacker of the Week, presented by Molten, after leading the Vikings in two contests. Bastos totaled 13 kills, on a .571 hitting percentage, in a sweep of Health Sciences & Pharmacy (Mo.), and followed with a season-high 19 kills in a four-game win at Kansas Wesleyan. Bastos finished the week averaging 4.57 kills per game, hitting at a .424 percentage.
This is the first weekly award for Bastos in his career, and is the third member of the team to earn a weekly award this season. Bastos joins Senior Setter Lucas Rodrigues (Balnelariu Cambriu, Brazil) from March 10, and Junior Opposite Luca Hasse (Paderborn, Germany) from Feb. 10 as award winners.
The No. 3 men's volleyball team is 16-2 on the season and 12-2 in the Heart. Up next, Vikings will travel to Lamoni, Iowa, to play Graceland (Iowa) in a Heart match, Tuesday at 7 p.m.
