Pair of Golfers Earn Weekly Heart Awards

Marshall, Mo., (March 31, 2025)- A pair Missouri Valley College golfers have earned weekly awards from the Heart of America Athletic Conference for their play last week.

Earning the Heart Men's Golfer of the Week Award, presented by Mammoth, is Junior Chad Coburn (Bloemfontein, South Africa) after winning the CMU Spring Invitational, played at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville, Mo.  Coburn tied for first, with teammate Freshman Brad Storrer (Harare, Zimbabwe), after a two-round score of -6 (136).  Coburn won the tournament on the first playoff hole.  The men's golf team finished first in the team standings, and was the only team under-par at the tournament, with a -3 (565) to win by five strokes.

Named the Heart Women's Golfer of the Week, presented by Mammoth, is Junior Hanna Rieker (Munich, Germany) after taking first place at the CMU Spring Invitational.  Rieker finished with a two-round score of +10 (152) to win by two strokes, and had the lowest round of anyone in the tournament, with a +1 (72) in the first round.  The women's team placed third in the final standings.

Coburn earned the first weekly award of his career, and is the first men's golfer to earn the honor so far this season.  Rieker picked up her second award of the season, having earned the honor back on Sept. 30.

Up next, the Viking men's and women's golf teams will host the MVC Spring Invitational, April 7-8 at Indian Foothills Golf Course in Marshall, Mo.
