
Women's Wrestling Set for NAIA National Championship
Marshall, Mo., (March 12, 2025)-The Missouri Valley College women's wrestling team is set for competition at the 2025 NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championship, beginning Friday and lasting through Saturday at Park City Arena in Park City, Kan. A total of 10 Vikings will compete.
Leading the team is three-time All-American and former individual National champion Senior Kelani Corbett (Wahiawa, Hawaii) Corbett the 180 pound weight class at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship, and is the No. 3 seed at 180 pounds with a 25-3 record on the season. In three prior appearances at the National championship, Corbett has a 12-2 record.
Also seeded at No. 3 is Freshman Xochitl Mota-Pettis (Humble, Texas) at 131 pounds. Mota-Pettis won the 131 pound weight class at the Heart championship and is 18-1 on the season, appearing at the National championship for the first time.
Freshman Jasmina Immaeva (Uzbekistan) is the No. 4 seed at 124 pounds, and is appearing at the National Championship for the first time. Immaeva is 7-2 on the season.
Senior Ashley Whetzal (Virginia Beach, Va.) is the No. 7 seed at 131 pounds and is making a fourth appearance at the National championship. Whetzal is 9-6 all-time at the National championship, and was an All-American at 123 pounds in 2023. This season, Whetzal has a 25-9 record.
Freshman Sarah Pineda (Perris, Calif.) is appearing for the first time at the National championship, competing at 110 pounds. Pineda is 12-11 on the season.
Senior Hailey Holland (San Bernardino, Calif.) will compete at 110 pounds, and is making a fourth appearance at the National championship. Holland is 4-6 all-time at the event, and is 20-16 on the season.
Freshman Isla Baeza (Orem, Utah) will compete for the first time at the National championship at 124 pounds. Baeze enters the tournament with a 16-13 record on the season.
Sophomore Serenity De La Garza (McAllen, Texas) makes a second appearance at the National Championship, after finishing as an All-American at 143 pounds last season, going 3-3 at the tournament. De La Garza competes at 138 pounds and has a 12-6 record.
Senior Aniseta Acosta (Sacramento, Calif.) enters the National championship with a record of 17-12 on the season, at 145 pounds. This is Acosta's second appearance at the National championship, going 0-2 in last year's tournament.
Freshman Sevreign Aumua (Grain Valley, Mo.) will compete at 145 pounds, bringing a record of 22-9 on the season into the National championship. This is Aumua's first appearance at the National tournament.
The 2025 NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championship begins Friday morning, and lasts through Saturday evening with four sessions inside Park City Arena in Park City, Kan.
Session I-Friday at 10 a.m.
Championship First Round, Championship Second Round, Consolation First Round, Consolation Second Round.
Session II-Friday at 6 p.m.
Championship Quarterfinal, Consolation Third Round, Consolation Fourth Round (All-Americans will be determined in Session II).
Session III-Saturday at 10 a.m.
Championship Semifinals, Consolation Fifth Round, Consolation Semifinals, Placement Matches (3rd, 5th, 7th place).
Session IV-Saturday at 7 p.m.
National Championship Round in all ten weight classes.
