Women's Tennis Student-Athlete Earns Weekly Heart Award

Marshall, Mo., (March 3, 2025)- A Missouri Valley College women's tennis student-athlete has earned a weekly award from the Heart of America Athletic Conference for her play in matches last week.

 

Senior Milene Marciniuk (Curitiba, Brazil) has been named the Heart Women's Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Vikings to a pair of victories.  Playing in the No. 2 singles position against St. Mary (Kan.), Marciniuk won her match by scores of 6-4, 6-2 over Shannon Finn, then worked with Senior Renata Olvera (Mexico City, Mexico) to win the No. 1 doubles match, as the team earned a 6-1 victory in the contest.

 

Against NCAA Division II William Jewell (Mo.), Marciniuk won her No. 2 singles contest, 7-5, 6-3 against Maisie Markowitz to help the team in a 5-2 victory in matches.

 

This is the first weekly award for Marciniuk in her career, and the Missouri Valley women's tennis sits at 2-0 on the season.

 

Up next, both Viking tennis teams will be in action Friday, at 1 p.m., with matches at McPherson (Kan.).
