
Track and Field Teams Compete at Bearcat Invite
Maryville, Mo., (Feb. 8, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College track and field teams competed at the Bearcat Invite in Maryville, Mo., Saturday. The Vikings competed against programs from multiple collegiate divisions at the event. The men's team was led by Freshman Dante Gordon who finished sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 48.66.
Men's Results:
Freshman Dante Gordon (Kingston, Jamaica): placed sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 48.66. He also finished seventh in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.08.
Freshman Amardeep Basra (Houton, Texas): placed 47th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.74.
Sophomore Corey Liggins (Augusta, Ga.): placed No. 52 in the 400 meter dash with a time of 53.64. He also finished No. 63 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.64.
Sophomore Isaiah Pratt (Augusta, Ga.): placed 35th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.68. He also finished with a time of 6.95 in the 60 meter dash prelims, but did not qualify for the finals.
Freshman Steven Mills (Kansas City, Kan.): placed 60th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.55. He also finished with a time of 7.45 in the 60 meter dash prelims, but did not qualify for the finals.
Junior Daytona Blaine (Shelbina, Mo.): placed 65th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:13.20.
Freshman Harrison James (Independence, Mo.): finished with a time of 7.32 in the 60 meter dash prelims, but did not qualify for the finals.
Freshman Micah Mumford: finished with a time of 8.91 in the 60 meter hurdles prelims, but did not qualify for the finals.
Freshman Elnailo Mushatt (Chicago, Ill.): finished with a time of 8.92 in the 60 meter hurdles prelims, but did not qualify for the finals.
Freshman Joseph James (Excelsior Springs, Mo.): finished with a time of 9.09 in the 60 meter hurdles prelims, but did not qualify for the finals.
Women's Results:
Junior Federica Gammarota (Foggia, Italy): placed 34th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:05.15. She also finished with a time of 10:63 in the 60 meter hurdles prelims, but did not qualify for the finals.
Freshman Dimitria Sweet: placed No. 41 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.85. She also finished with a time of 8.37 in the 60 meter dash prelims, but did not qualify for the finals.
Senior Samantha Bitz (Marion, Ill.): placed 56th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.20. She also finished with a time of 8.80 in the 60 meter dash prelims, but did not qualify for the finals.
Freshman Shaliah McKoy (Kingston, Jamaica): finished with a time of 8.65 in the 60 meter dash prelims, but did not qualify for the finals.
Women Distance Medley Relay team (Freshman Bryanna Wentland (Higginsville, Mo.), S. McKoy, Freshman Faraja Nyasa (Kigoma, Tanzania), Senior Camille Humphrey (St. Peters, Mo.)) placed 11th with a time of 16:17.79.
Up next, the Viking track and field teams will compete at the Heart of America Indoor Championships in Maryville, Mo., on Feb. 14-15.
