
Track and Field Teams Compete at UCM Invite
Warrensburg, Mo., (Jan. 24, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College track and field teams opened their indoor season at the UCM Invite, Friday. The Vikings competed against programs from multiple collegiate divisions at the event. The men's team placed fifth in the standings, led by Freshman Stephen Caviness who won the long jump with a distance of 6.71 meters, and three other Vikings finished in the top three in their respective events. The 4x400 meter relay team 'A' placed second with a time of 3:30.04. The women's team placed seventh overall.
Men's Results:
Freshman Stephen Caviness: won the long jump with a distance of 6.74 meters. He also finished 10th in the high jump with a height of 1.85 meters.
Freshman Isaiah Pratt: placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.16.
Sophomore Corey Liggins: placed third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.38. He also finished 7th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.46.
Freshman Marcus Evans: placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 13.32 meters. He also finished 14th in the long jump with a distance of 6.13 meters.
Sophomore Terrill Davis: placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.60 meters. He also finished 17th in the long jump with a distance of 5.72 meters.
Freshman Dante Gordon: placed fifth in the 60 meters hurdles final with a time of 8.35. He also finished 7th in the 600 yard run with a time of 1:15.78.
Freshman Steven Mills: placed fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.42.
Freshman Amardeep Basra: placed 7th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.85. He also finished No. 20 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.69.
Freshman Montique Griffiths: placed No. 11 in the 600 yard run with a time of 1:17.42.
Freshman Darius Thomas: placed 14th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.87.
Freshman Luke Clayton: placed No. 19 in the weight throw with a distance of 12.14 meters. He also finished 21st in the shot put with a distance of 12.47 meters.
Freshman Harrison James: placed No. 19 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.35.
Freshman Joseph James: placed No. 23 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.95.
4x400 meter relay team 'A' (Griffiths, Freshman Micah Mumford, Liggins, Gordon, Freshman Elnailo Mushatt) placed second with a time of 3:30.04.
4x400 meter relay team 'B' (Sophomore Jorge Munoz, Basra, Thomas, Freshman Elnailo Mushatt, Sophomore Derel Morris) placed sixth with a time of 3:42.46.
4x400 meter relay team 'C' (Pratt, James H., James J., Mills, Sophomore Derel Morris) placed seventh with a time of 3:51.36.
Women's Results:
Senior Paula Romero Rodriguez: placed No. 6 in the shot put with a distance of 10.67 meters. She also finished 8th in the weight throw with a distance of 14.36 meters.
Freshman Dimitria Sweet: placed No. 6 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.92.
Freshman Emily Dolberry: placed 7th in the high jump with a height of 1.47 meters. She also finished No. 20 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 32.07.
Junior Emily Lechuga: placed 8th in the 600 yard run with a time of 1:35.21.
Freshman Shaliah McKoy: placed 10th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:13.15. She also finished No. 18 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.87.
Freshman Jaedyn Smith: placed 13th in the shot put with a distance of 9.17 meters. She also finished No. 22 in the weight throw with a distance of 8.97 meters.
Sophomore Isabella Kulenkamp: placed 15th in the weight throw with a distance of 12.30 meters.
Senior Kylie Linson: placed 17th in the weight throw with a distance of 11.98 meters.
Senior Camille Humphrey: placed 17th in the 600 yard run with a time of 1:51.06.
Freshman Brynna Wentland: placed 18th in the 600 yard run with a time of 1:56.02.
Senior Samantha Bitz: placed 18th in the long jump with a distance of 4.22 meters. She also finished No. 17 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.75.
Freshman Faraja Nyasa: placed 19th in the 600 yard run with a time of 2:02.95.
Freshman Kila Burchett: placed 24th in the weight throw with a distance of 8.25 meters.
Freshman Sydnei Cummings: placed 25th in the weight throw with a distance of 7.05 meters.
4x400 meter relay (Bitz, Sweet, Junior Federica Gammarota, Lechuga) placed fourth with a time of 4:37.34.
