Women's Soccer Student-Athlete Named NAIA All-American

Marshall, Mo., (Dec. 16, 2024)- A Missouri Valley College women's soccer student-athlete has been named to the 2024 NAIA Women's Soccer All-America Team, released by the NAIA Monday.

Junior Defender Marta Carrasco Mesa (Sevilla, Spain) has been selected as a second team All-American following her play during the 2024 season.  Carrasco Mesa led the Viking women's soccer team to an undefeated Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season championship, the first for the program since 1993, along with an appearance in the 2024 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship, advancing to the third round.

On the season, Carrasco Mesa finished with six goals and five assists from the defender position, and anchored a Viking backline that posted nine shutouts. Carrasco Mesa also scored one game-winning goal, and scored one goal in the team's National third round game against eventual National runner-up Keiser (Fla.).

Earlier this season, Carrasco Mesa was recognized as the Heart Player of the Year and Heart Defensive Player of the Year, along with a first team all-conference selection.  Carrasco Mesa became the first player in program-history to earn both individual awards from the Heart.

Carrasco Mesa becomes the twelfth NAIA All-America selection for the program since 2012, which includes teammate Senior Forward Ashley Arribas (Lake Forest, Calif.), who was a third team selection last season.

The women's soccer team finished the 2024 season with a 15-5-1 overall record, and an undefeated 10-0-1 record in Heart play.
