Football With Seven Heart All-Division Selections

Marshall, Mo., (Nov. 21, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College football team has put six of its student-athletes on the 2024 Heart of America Athletic Conference All-South Division Team, released by the conference Thursday.

 

Four members of the team were selected to the all-division second team, including two members of the defense.  Both Senior Defensive Lineman Ethan Towers (Chicago, Ill.) and Senior Defensive Back Kobe Windham (Petal, Miss.) were second team selections.

 

Towers finished fourth on the team with 47 tackles, and led the team with eight sacks and 14 tackles-for-loss during the season.  Windham had 37 tackles with one interception and one forced fumble.  Windham added a 98-yard interception return for a touchdown, the first for the program since 2021.

 

One member of the offense was a second team all-division selection, Junior Offensive Lineman Luke Clayton (Wichita, Kan.).  Clayton led an offensive line that averaged 149.9 yards rushing per game, producing 24 offensive touchdowns.

 

Named to the special teams all-division second team was Sophomore Running Back Tavion Campbell (St. Louis, Mo.).  As a kick returner, Campbell finished with 328 total return yards, and scored two kickoff return touchdowns.  His 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Central Methodist (Mo.) tied both a school and National college football record, and was the first kickoff return for a touchdown since 2019.  Campbell was also an honorable mention selection at running back, after finishing with 235 yards rushing, along with four receptions for 20 yards, and two touchdowns in six games played during the season.

 

Both Junior Defensive Back Alon Woodbury (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and Linebacker Senior Linebacker Adyn Schwarzer (Burleson, Texas) were honorable mention selections.  Woodbury finished with 18 tackles, one sack, two tackles-for-loss, six pass break-ups, one fumble recovery and two interceptions.  Schwarzer was third on the team with 55 tackles and added 1.5 tackles-for-loss.

 

The Viking football team finished the 2024 season, the first under Head Coach Casey Creehan, with a 4-6 overall record, and a 2-4 record in the Heart South Division.
